Pros: Will save you thousands of dollars in gas. Cons: They get you to every time with the warranty The Bottom Line: Highly recommend this for anyone that has a chance to beat the oil companies at their own game.
Once upon a time, I can remember when gas was less than a dollar a gallon. But it has been years since we have seen that happen. About five years ago, Toyota came out with a car that they advertised would get around 60 miles to the gallon. This was ...

Pros: saves $$$ at the pump, surprisingly roomy, fun to drive Cons: huge blind spots, not cheap, distracting video screen The Bottom Line: We plan on buying one in the near future; even though our commutes are short, we can't afford gas at the current prices, and we need high mpg
I won the use of one of these for 90 days for being a local teacher of the year, so I am getting quite the "test drive." So far I've driven it 5,000 miles; we just got back from a 2,500 mile trip from OK, through KS, MO, IA, MN, SD, WY, and NE. I ...

Pros: Tremendous gas mileage. Best in class. Cons: Very, very expensive to buy. What you save is eaten up by the cost. The Bottom Line: This is an excellent car but way to expensive and far too hard to buy. Try a Camry hybrid.
The Prius is truly an amazing car. It will get you 45mpg much of the time and has nifty features unavailable in most other models. But I didn't buy it. The competition is slim for this car. Maybe the Honda Civic Hybrid, perhaps the Toyota Camry, ...

Pros: Mileage, very smooth ride, good back room, cool gadgets, quiet interior Cons: Underpowered, geeky looks, turning could be better, driver seat cramped, console could be easier The Bottom Line: Whether you will like this car depends on what you want out of your car
First, a small foreword: I'm going to start out by saying that this is definitely a good car, but it will not put a huge dent in oil company profits or the upcoming oil crisis like so many hybrid lovers so eagerly claim. This is mostly because: 1) ...

Pros: 40+ MPG gas mileage, comfortable, roomy Cons: slow, cloth interior The Bottom Line: 40 MPG Gas Mileage and comfortable interior
Introduction Since I do get a Hertz rental car special discount coupon from AAA auto mobile club and I heard a lot of stories about Toyota Prius Hybrid gas mileage, I decided to rent the Toyota Prius and try out the 2008 Toyota Prius myself ...

Pros: HIGH MPG, Makes a statement, ample room and cargo space Cons: Cost to purchase, fuel economy suffers badly on hills. The Bottom Line: If you can afford it, buy one -- this is a great car for the money and the price of gas isn't going down.
I bought the Prius when I found my daily commute bumping up from 5 miles to ***60*** miles. It's a no-brainer if you're looking for a vehicle that gets high fuel economy and saves at the pump. The car has plenty of power for the typical driver. ...

Pros: Handles well, I get 54 mpg. Fits 6'4" hubby, two car seats, me and groceries. Cons: Annoying beeper when backing up (which can be silenced), distracting fuel consumption screen. The Bottom Line: Rent one from your Toyota dealer for the weekend, evaluate whether it'll suit your needs. I love mine.
I'm a small car person, but after our first child, I let my husband talk me into a van. I absolutely loved it, but as we watched both our family and gas prices grow, we found we needed better gas mileage. I was thinking a more standard car, like the VW ...

Pros: 47+mpg, very roomy, good for the earth, Bluetooth, navigation Cons: I wish it was more affordable for more people! The Bottom Line: I LOVE my Prius! I put over 40,000 in my first year... everyone should have one!
I purchased my Prius October 2007, and it was one of the top 5 best decisions for the year! I actually traded in my Land Rover Discovery and have been oh-so glad that I did that! Now that the gas prices have finally come down... it's been even ...

Pros: 45 mpg, clever controls, practical. Cons: seats somewhat uncomfortable with no height adjustment. The Bottom Line: Well built, practical, great MPG. highly recommended.
After my first month of driving I love my new Prius. Best way to describe it is well made, smart, and unique. I am 6' tall and have no problem with seating, however, I would like the seat to have height adjustment. That is the only thing I don't like. ...

Pros: Really fun to drive in town - mileage, handling Cons: Rear visibility is horrible (even with camera)! Feels light on freeway, especially around trucks. The Bottom Line: Would buy again unless doing a lot of highway driving. Also, would choose a package 3 rather than package 2.
We have had our 2008 Prius about four months and still love to drive it, in fact, we don't know of anyone who has one that doesn't. (It only took my wife 5 min. to decide, when she first drove it that she had to have it - unfortunately the salesman ...

2008 Prius; good for the world and for you

Pros: Good for the environment (and my social conscience)
Touchscreen is futuristic with multifunction technology
Cons: Touchscreen could be more user friendly
It's a car that crosses the age barrier; a grandmother and a new teen driver would feel comfortable in this car. It's dynamically designed to create minimum wind resistance and optimum gas mileage. It's small, easy to handle and its sturdiness (and side curtain airbags) gives the driver/riders a sense of safety.
New color options available; mine is metallic grey and I get compliments all the time.

Pros: Comfortable, excellent gas mileage, great amenities Cons: Needs telescoping steering wheel
I commute 48 miles each way to work, through an often congested tunnel with stop and go traffic for several miles each way. I've driven this car for a full week, put 550 miles on it, and just filled up for the first time ($33 at $2.95/gallon). It is quite comfortable to drive- I'm 5'10" and I fit comfortably in it. My husband is 6'2" and he also finds it comfortable to drive. The amenities available are great, we got package #4 (I highly recommend upgrading to the JBL sound system with bluetooth). It has quite a large cargo capacity (bigger than you would think when looking at it)- I've taken my dogs and husband for a ride and we were all comfortable. My biggest complaint is that it could use a telescoping steering wheel.

Pros: Good MPG, driving visibility; cargo room Cons: slow acceleration, road noise, feels a bit flimsy
Very happy I bought this car last year as a work commute car. I never get the advertised mileage but am happy with the performance/mpg tradeoff. I really like the display with integrated controls for map, climate, audio, etc.
