Can you feel the payne? Get it? Payne, pain? Huh? Huh? Ah forget it.

by ss3goku , May 07 '02
Pros: Visuals, sound, interactive environments, comic book layout dialouges
Cons: Placement of the bullet time and shoot dodge buttons, Payne's dreams
I always wanted to own Max Payne. Ever since it’s debut on the PC system, I wanted to experience all the hype the game was given. Unfortunately though, my computer didn’t meet the standard requirements for running the game. I was left with one option,...

Pleasure From Payne

by EdTeach , Jan 01 '02
Pros: Great Graphics, Creative New Gameplay, Polish
Cons: No Multiplayer
Max Payne is a title that has long been awaited for the PC. They leaked screen shots years ago, and set the world on fire. The quality of the screen shots was unheard of. Especially amazing was the use of near photo quality textures for the...

Release the Serial Killer inside.

by Abraxmed , Dec 30 '03
Pros: Bullet time, great story, cool characters and lots of action.
Cons: Linear story and dated graphics.
This is probably my favorite game on the Xbox. I'm not saying it is overall the best game, because it's not. It is quite a bit dated, especially now that there is a sequel. However I can still replay it, over and over, and have a blast killing ...

Max Payne; The Real Last Action Hero...

by Mike341 , Dec 28 '01
Pros: Bullet Time, Effects, Story, Voices
Cons: No cons
First, we must talk about the biggest feature in this game.
The "Matrix" esque "Bullet-Time" mode. You know those sweet scenes in the Matrix where there is a lot of action, and everything stops while the camera zooms around so it looks really cool?...

by reviewmaster2x , Feb 01 '02
Pros: Everything takes damage...graphics are stunning...sound and music are great...
Cons: Games like this SHOULD NOT have platform jumping scenes...gets repeditive...too short...
Now a days it seems almost impossible to release a realistic shooting game without blowing someone's hair back. If that follows true with Max Payne, anti-violence groups and Joe Lieberman are gonna have a field day with this game. Max Payne is the story...

Max Payne

by garafelgo , Jan 05 '02
Pros: The infamous Bullet Time.
Cons: Max speaks using more metaphores than a certain South Park character's father.
Max Payne is a great action game that perfectly captures the feel of an action movie. If you keep your eyes and ears open, you'll witness moments taken from classic action movies. (If you really know your stuff, you'll be able to pick out the awesome...

No Payne No gain

by everlasting18 , Feb 23 '02
Pros: Great story line, Great graphics, good control
Cons: Just not long enough, no replay value
I just picked this game up a few days ago and I have already finished it. This is one of the main problems with games now a days they are just too short. Before I go into a rant here let me tell some good things about the game.

First of all...

Max Payne, max pleasure... (sorry!)

by jakeone , Aug 19 '02
Pros: Hugely enjoyable; very easy to pick up and play. Great fun.
Cons: A little repetitive towards the end. Some slow levels.
If you're looking for fast, frantic, mindless fun, Max Payne delivers. The action is thick and furious, kicks off right from the start and is sustained throughout the game - with a few minor exceptions.

OK, what do I particularly like?...

Simply Awsome

by belfour20 , Jan 28 '02
Pros: Graphics, Gameplay, On the Xbox
Cons: Short
Simply an amazing achievement of a game: You play the dual-gun totaling anti-hero of your favorite Chow Yun Fat movies. The cliches and voice acting are really overdone, but it made the mood/story a little more enjoyable.

The hyped Bullet...

Amazing Game!
by kropyl ,Mar 20 '04
Pros: Excellent gameplay and AI
Cons: The graphics are slightly outdated
Max Payne is an amazing game, worthy of a game of the year title. It didn't receive the title that I know of, but I know it was in the running for it. The gameplay is excellent and the AI is also very good for most times. The graphics are slightly outdated, but besides that, it kept me entertained and playing over and over again!
