Before I begin my 1000+ word essay on a certain Italian, I'd like to make it clear that I'm no Collin McRae or David Coulthard. I'm just a university student with a driving licence with an interest in cars...

Pros: Beautiful to hear, beautiful to look at. Cons: Fuel economy, Back seat room, Lack of folding rear seat
The Bottom Line: If you drive to get from A to B its not even a consideration. If you enjoy your driving, try...and you'll buy!
I recently passed my driving test (2nd attempt at age 35). To me this milestone (for a soon to be first time father) wasn't about practicality, fuel economy or any other of the usual considerations you should make when purchasing probably the second most ...

Pros: Very "sexy" car. Excellent performance, good comfort, now very reliable. Cons: Firm suspension. Not a lot else. The Bottom Line: This comes close to my idea of the perfect car. It gets my very highest recommendation, so much so I intend to buy one in 2002.
~ ~ Alfa Romero have come a long way in the past few years.
I can remember a time not that very long ago that they had such a bad reputation, especially in regard to body rot, that the standing joke was that if you left one out overnight in the...

Pros: Roadholding, performance, looks, build quality Cons: Rear space, depreciation
In the movie La Passione Chris Rea describes his life long love for Ferrari. Italian cars invoke passion and the Alfa Romeo 156 is no exception. When launched in 1997 the only regret many Alfa tifosi had was that this car was designated by a simple...

The Car
If there’s such a thing as an affordable car with presence and charisma, it is the 156. Backed by the European Car of The Year 1998 award and numerous rave reviews, Alfa Romeo 156 has become my choice for everyday transportation.

Pros: Body styling , An Excellent Drive!, Interior Styling. Cons: second hand value in UK. The Bottom Line: Buy it if you love to really drive a beautifull and exhillarating car but work out the figures.
I have an Alfa Romeo 156 1.8 TSpark with a Sports Pack One fitted. I have to say it is a beautifull car and certainly one that you find yourself looking at every time you see it. It's fantastic to drive with a great interior if you avoid the models with ...

Pros: Look, engine, roadhold Cons: Baggage space, small posterior space, interiors not of American style
I've been a very happy owner of a 156 2.5 V6 for two years now. It's simply stunning! Let's start from the aspect many foreign people look for in Italian cars: style. It is undoubted that Walter de' Silva, the designer of the 156, 166 and 147, has done a...

Pros: Diesel (cheaper to run), smooth on the road, energetic Cons: Climatiser is optional. Remember to include it. The Bottom Line: Extremely stable, comfortable, cheap to run, friendly assistance, and it still has the heart of a car... ...need to say more?
We owned another Alfa, a 33 before this one. Actually we still own it and it is my wife's favourite. It has gotten a 1.7 boxer engine, 16 valves, 98 Kwh. That one makes about 10 km with 1 liter of gasoline (which is too little), high insurance and road...

Pros: Design quality, Stability, great price and performance. Cons: Poor after-sales service in certain countries, fragility of some accessories. The Bottom Line: Best car I drove. Low price, great quality, great handling. Choose a good and knowledgeable dealer and go for it.
This car is the best I've had so far. Previously driver of VW Polo and Golf (but Alfista in the heart as I learned to drive in an '84 Alfetta 2.0) I am delighted at the pleasure of driving this car. The engine is a Diesel (direct injection Turbo) I know,...

Pros: Beautiful looking car Cons: Reliability The Bottom Line: Beautiful car but don't be seduced by its looks. Alpha's reliability problems of old are back (in my experience).
Since seeing my first Alpha Romeo 156 I wanted one! Seduced by it's looks and recommended by a friend who had one, off I went to the local dealer and ordered my 156 2.0 tspark with sports pack 2.
Within 2 month an intermittent fault developed...
