| Buddah1's Full Review: Berklee College of Music |
When I first came to Berklee and found out that they were making me take certain classes I was mad. Ear training shmear training, harmony shmarmony and so on. But I was very wrong. I am now in my fourth semester and these classes have dramatically helped me as a musician. Before Berklee I was a cocky teenager with a guitar and an "I know it all" attitude. Even through my first semester here I felt that the teachers were "old school" and lame. But everything that they do at Berklee has some kind of reason behind it. The people that created this school and the people who run it now have made it. Now by "made it" I don't mean had an MTV video and then disappeared after three years. These professors are the folks who write the songs for these one hit wonders(Britney Spears). These are the people who record, produce, and find the marketability of these people. To me "making it" means making a living doing what you love. If you want a carrer in music then come to Berklee. If you want to pop and fizzle then go form a band and get out there.
