Pros: Friendly, hard-working staff; delivered as promised; Great price for the peace-of-mind value. Cons: None really. Took 7 days for delivery, but we knew that was a possibility.
We interviewed 5 moving companies for our long-distance move from New York City to central Ohio. Our rep from Meyer's was the most thorough and though they weren't the absolute cheapest option, we felt most secure with Meyer's (owned by Mayflower). ...

Pros: Service oriented, quick and courteous Cons: None
I was very pleased with the entire move. All of Meyer's representatives were attentive and service oriented.
The team worked really hard, and they were polite and patient with me as I decided what was to be packed and where to move things in our new...

Pros: Fast, reliable, polite movers. Very helpful! Cons: None.
I just moved with Meyer's Moving and Storage, a NYC agent for Mayflower Transit, and they were GREAT! After comparing 15 different companies, and after getting frustrated by dodgy sales people and intimidating phone estimators, I was relived and happy to...

Pros: Did what they said they would, for the quoted price, and did it well. Cons: Showed up an hour early, if that is a con.
We hadn't moved since post-college days, over twenty years ago, and had plenty of trepidations, thanks to hearing plenty of mover-horror stories. Meyer's was located through an internet site (http://www.vanlines.com). After phone calls to 6 or 7...

Pros: Our final bill was $250 less than the estimated cost Cons: nothing i can think of at the moment
I used Meyers (agents for Mayflower transit) to move my wife and I from West New York, NJ to Plano, TX in the middle of January. I received 6 in-home estimates from local NY and NJ companies that contacted me through the website vanline.com. The ...

Pros: NONE Cons: Late, misquoted, too many mistakes and never taking responsibility for those mistakes, blaming me
We thought because the salesman suggested to me to check out the BBB for all moving companies, that they would be a company that was going to be easy to deal with and friendly ... we were very, very wrong. We have NEVER been forced to contact the BBB ...

Pros: None Cons: Untrained Movers, paperwork shambles.
Meyers Moving in Redwood City california moved my goods in June of 2000. The "Professional Movers" they claimed would be sent to my home turned out to be foreign students on student visa's, with no training on packing and moving goods.
These...

Pros: Good price Cons: Damaged my new wood floors and some paintings, and then refused to honor my claim!
I moved into a house with brand new wood floors. They did not use any pads to protect the floors, so they damaged the floor in many places.
Also, they broke the glass on a painting because they stuffed 6 pictures into a single box and did not...

Meyer's Moving
by siberiatiger ,Dec 28 '03
Pros: none Cons: criminal the laws they broke were considered 'civil' as the police couldn't help.
Meyers moving company is the absolute worst moving company. They are like the Mafia and try to swindle at any chance they get. They even take the stance of breaking your goods, stating that in order to get the job done they will require "tips". This move was the worst experience EVER. BEWARE of the company Meyer's (main office in Bronx, NY) as they are nothing more than a shell company for money laundering and shams.

Great Moving Experience
by bosco555 ,Apr 01 '04
Pros: Friendly, professional, and honest. Cons: None really.
I chose Meyer's Moving after reading the great reviews on this site, and I am very happy I did. The experience was fantastic from beginning to end: The sales people were courteous and professional, the onsite estimator was helpful and accurate on the estimate, and the movers were simply great. They definitely know what they are doing, and being a Mayflower Agent is another great plus!
It is amazing how much junk one accumulates in a lifetime. I quite honestly don't know what I would have done if I needed to pack it all myself. You just reach a point where you are surrounded by small items you don't even remember ever purchasing and you have no clue how to pack them. The Meyers team was unbelievable. Within 2 hours my apartment was packed neatly and everything was labeled and organized!
Overall, I am really glad I went with Meyer's. Good, reliable and professional company!

Would NOT Recommend Meyers
by audlen ,Feb 28 '06
Pros: Were efficient in returning phone calls and emails Cons: Everything else; the bottom line--our goods arrived late and damaged.
After shopping around, we chose Meyers because they seemed professional and trustworthy ('SEEMED' being the operative word here...) Our goods were 5 weeks late being delivered, and thanks to the poor packing job, arrived with significant scratches (maybe because the tip for the movers was less than they had requested?); 2 pieces were so damaged that they had to be trashed. Dealing with the claims office was a nightmare--the woman in charge was one of the most passive aggressive, patronizing people I have ever dealt with. If you are moving internationally, look elsewhere.

Meyer's is the worst company we've ever dealt with
by wittywiggle ,Nov 27 '04
Pros: Meyer's is the worst company we've ever dealt with Cons: Meyer's is the worst company we've ever dealt with
The staff was threatening us by requiring tips "then we make sure your stuff will arrive complete and in good condition "(didn't we already pay for that???) - was two hours late, cheated on actual time needed and worst: our stuff arrived in horrible condition. Meyer's Moving is ignoring emails/phone calls/forms and the insurance company - which is based in Israel - will not cover anything.
DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY!

MOVE IT YOURSELF
by jasonmcgillie ,Dec 29 '04
Pros: (see body) Cons: (see body)
I set up my move from New Jersey to Washington State using Meyers. En route they somehow managed to lose several boxes, including one measuring 18" x 24" x 5 feet tall which weighed 75 pounds and had MEYERS MOVING printed all over it. They did pretty much nothing to get it back for me. What a nightmare.
PROS: Moved *most* of my stuff, only broke *some* of my stuff.
CONS: PAID FOR EVERYTHING TO GET THERE UNBROKEN!

Be Careful With This Firm
by ouchouchouch ,May 23 '06
Pros: They did a nice job of packing my goods Cons: The claims dept. is very slow and unresponsive.
I moved from Manhattan to the Midwest and had a very difficult time with this Company once the move was complete. They did a nice job of packing up my things (which I paid extra for) and also paid for extra insurance. Bottom line, they lost about $3,000 of my things and they only wanted to pay me $30. It took almost a year for me to recover the money. I had to sue them in small claims court-and even then they didn't pay. It was only after I froze their bank accounts did they finally pay me. Please, if you have an alternative choice at about the same cost--don't go with Meyers.
