I love it!

Pros: the community atmosphere, the caring staff, the variety and quality of the activities offered, the traditions, the beauty of the area
Cons: the bath houses being separate from the cabins
I Love Nakanawa!! I was a camper there for nine years (91-99) and a counselor there this past summer. If you (or you daughter) is planning to attend this camp, this is what to expect:

I went to Camp Nakanawa for over 7 years. I started in 1983 and my last summer was 1990. I made some of the greatest friends at this camp and I still keep in touch with some of them today!! Most of my fondest childhood memories are of Camp Nakanawa in ...

A summer of fun and laughter.

by jsswls , Jun 27 '01
Pros: Caring and friendly staff who make the summer special for every camper.
Cons: Saying good-bye to all of your friends when camp is over.
I have been a camp counselor at Nakanawa since I was 17 years old. I am now heading on 23 and packing my bags again eager for yet another summer of bliss.
My very first summer at Nakanawa, I had no idea what to expect. A whole month sounded...

There's no place like Camp Nakanawa!

by lovecampnak , Aug 19 '08
Pros: It is a great place to spend a summer!
Cons: It is only 4 weeks. Longer would be much better for learning specific skills.
Words cannot describe Camp Nakanawa. Sure you will find all the normal things at camp... cabins, canoes, s'mores, etc. What you can't put in words is the value of being there. There is a special quality that has lasted nearly 90 years. From the ...

Former Camper

by beatlepal , Oct 27 '02
Pros: Beautiful setting, great staff, lots of activities, the lifetime of memories -- don't miss it!
Cons: none
As a former camper (1979-84), I must say the summers I spent at Nakanawa were some of the best times of my life. I often reflect on the years I spent at Nakanwa and I am grateful that my parents sent me to such a wonderful place.
The activities...

What an opportunity
by queenmum3900 ,Jul 11 '07
Pros: No TV or boys!
Cons: I can't really say there are con's. I wouldn't change a thing.
I've been a counselor for 11 years and my daughter went to camp Nakanawa and was a counselor, also. I cannot even begin to express the joy I get from camp life. Both my daughter and myself have friends from all across the country. The wholesome atmosphere and opportunities are are awesome. The girls learn responsibility, getting along, new games, activities, and skills. They are also exposed to nature, friendly competition, and healthy living. Girls come from all regions of the country with all sorts of back grounds. Some even come from different parts of the world.

One of my most cherished childhood memories!
by zulemaf ,Dec 10 '05
Pros: Plenty activities, beautiful scenery, focus on friendships, great traditions.
Cons: The bathrooms were in a separate cabin, after all its a camp not a hotel!!
I attended Camp Nakanawa two summers during middle school. I was approximate 9-11 years old. It was the most amazing experience of my life. To this day (33 years old) I remember the camp songs and long to go back. I always planned of sending my girl there to become a Valkerie...but, I have a boy!!! I'm in talks with my brother...he has 6 year old twin girls!!! I can't wait to go on vacation in the near future and visit the camp. I'll NEVER forget my summers at Camp Nakanawa! Ann & Pepe are simply delightful! I thank them and my parents for giving me one of my most treasured childhood memories. Send your little girl to Camp Nakanawa...you will NOT regret it!!! You will be giving her the best gift of all...memories that will last a lifetime.
