I've been a counselor for 11 years and my daughter went to camp Nakanawa and was a counselor, also. I cannot even begin to express the joy I get from camp life. Both my daughter and myself have friends from all across the country. The wholesome atmosphere and opportunities are are awesome. The girls learn responsibility, getting along, new games, activities, and skills. They are also exposed to nature, friendly competition, and healthy living. Girls come from all regions of the country with all sorts of back grounds. Some even come from different parts of the world.
One of my most cherished childhood memories! by zulemaf ,Dec 10 '05
Pros: Plenty activities, beautiful scenery, focus on friendships, great traditions. Cons: The bathrooms were in a separate cabin, after all its a camp not a hotel!!
I attended Camp Nakanawa two summers during middle school. I was approximate 9-11 years old. It was the most amazing experience of my life. To this day (33 years old) I remember the camp songs and long to go back. I always planned of sending my girl there to become a Valkerie...but, I have a boy!!! I'm in talks with my brother...he has 6 year old twin girls!!! I can't wait to go on vacation in the near future and visit the camp. I'll NEVER forget my summers at Camp Nakanawa! Ann & Pepe are simply delightful! I thank them and my parents for giving me one of my most treasured childhood memories. Send your little girl to Camp Nakanawa...you will NOT regret it!!! You will be giving her the best gift of all...memories that will last a lifetime.
