I have been attending Camp Rim Rock nearly my entire life. I started as a camper at 7 years old, and I am now a counselor there, and have been for the last 4 years. As a 19 year old college student, I've realized that Camp Rim Rock is more than just a ...
Pros: You will gain friendships from all over the world! Cons: you have to say goodbye!
This last spring while I was looking for a camp to go work for, I came across the Camp Rim Rock website. At the moment it popped up on the screen, I was hooked! I couldn't imagine working at any other camp. I was hired shortly after that. I worked ...
Pros: Indoor plumbing, lots of activities, great staff, beautiful campsite Cons: You wont want to leave on the last day!!
I am an 11 year old camper at Rim Rock and I had the time of my life there. There is so much to do and so much fun! We have daily schedules that include horse-back riding, sports, canoing, arts and crafts, dance, drama and more! We have three meals that are delicious. And we also have evening activities that are so much fun! There are lots of traditions such as roasting marshmallows, 4th of July cookout, and the Miss CRR talent show!!! The camp is beautiful. Theres over 600 acres of land, the Capacon River, and gorgeous trails. We live in traditional cabins. When a girl has a birthday, her whole cabin gets to eat a cake! Also, each girl is assigned a big or little sister. This helps girls of different ages get to know each other. There are many more activities at camp, but it's hard to describe all the fun at camp in this review. But if you go, I'm sure that you will love it!
Pros: Beautiful setting in mountains of West Virginia
80 horses, climbing wall, archery, 2 pools Cons: Rustic cabins
My daughter attended this camp for the last 2 years, as a 7 and 8 year old. She loved it both times. She was kept busy with lots of activities, including horseback riding, archery, swimming, other sports, and this year the climbing wall. They have night activities as well. She was there over July 4th last year, and the camp had fireworks. They sang songs around the campfire and did the usual camp things. It seems to be a fairly non-competitive fun camp.
The strength for her has been the counsellors. She's a shy kid and the counsellors and CITs made her stay fantastic. Counsellors come from the local states but also from England and Scotland (at least hers did).
A key feature for me was that each day we checked her in or out the camp owner and directors (actual adults) were there to meet us and invite feedback. I had the sense that my child was known, even with 280 campers on site.
