Pros: Excellent Print Quality, Easy Installation, Great Speed, Web-Interface Cons: Hard to find, a bit noisy but not bad, and lacks a multipurpose tray.
I purchased this color laser printer a little over 2 weeks ago and have been very pleased with it so far. The color print quality is fantastic. It has a 2400x600 dpi resolution (64MB expandable to 512mb) and it really shows when printing graphics, text, ...

Pros: None that we have observed. Cons: Unreliable technically.
Extremely poor customer service.
Puchased this unit summer of 2005 and right out of the box, it didn't work. Brother sent someone to repair it 2 days later. We stored it for about 5 months until we started up our business. Soon after hooking it up, it didn't print margins correctly, ...

Pros: Price and printout Cons: Service life and parts costs
We purchased the 2700CN about two years ago, due to its low price and good output and the fact that our old HP Laserjet III+ couldn't handle printing pdf's or other memory-intensive documents, which we frequently need to print. Upon putting it into ...

Bad at paper handling
by cdonald ,Oct 12 '06
Pros: quick and cheap to buy Cons: buy a new printer when you want consumables... its cheaper
The brother cant handle anything but perfectly flat paper. Trying to print anything double sided without using the duplex is near impossible!!! The paper tray can only handle 4 sheets of paper without having a fit.
Stay well clear of this one if you have ambitions of doing anything on both sides

Too expensive to maintain!
by bclt2000 ,Mar 01 '06
Pros: Looks great when it works! Cons: Ridiculously expensive to maintain!
I have had this printer for 10 1/2 months, I have spent $1420.00 in toner, $350.00 to replace the OPC belt and now Brother wants another $336.00 to replace the transfer unit. The printer was purchased from Quill for $549.98.
The printer works great when it works but when it's down, you have to be printer tech savvy to fix it and be patient for the parts to come in.
We also have had a tech drive three hours three times to fix it to replace the exit guide assembly.

Poor warranty and high priced consumables
by brotherdon ,Dec 01 '05
Pros: Fast, attractively designed, good drivers. Cons: Very expensive to maintain, misleading warranty.
This printer seemed pretty good at first, but the warranty does not cover "consumables". Our OPC belt cartridge (which is used to hold the image electrostatically) started to fail after 100 days, leaving streaks and smudges on the printed pages. Since it is a consumable item according to Brother, it is not covered by the warranty. The OPC belt cartridge sells for $399, which seems rather high for a consumable part on a $500 printer.
The fuser is also considered consumable. It costs more than $400. In addition, the toner cartridges cost more than $150 each.
When all is said and done, the fantastic sounding lifetime warranty covers little more than the case and power supply. We made a mistake by purchasing this printer.
