Pros: Great price for surprisingly fast refurbished laptop. Cons: Very heavy (7+ pounds) for a small person to carry every day.
I bought the C610 (Windows 2000 Pro, 256 Mb, 20 Gb HD, CD-ROM Drive, USB, some time remaining on warranty) at auction on E-Bay, from a subsidiary of Dell that manages the auctions of refurbished Dell machines. I had compared reviews; right out of the ...
Pros: cheap laptop with a lot of today's features
Large screen Cons: Small hard drive compared to today's standard
Small max. resolution
I just got this laptop from a local guy at the beginning of the month, and its been great so far. My desktop is a 3 year old gaming machine, and I needed a computer to just do basic school work while I'm at school and during the commute home. The ...
Pros: moderate weight, good performance, very good price compared to new system. Cons:

I purchased this item on Ebay from a reliable seller, as I needed a laptop to replace the Gateway Solo 3100 I gave to a friend for college use. This purchase differed from the above specifications by including 512MB RAM, and onboard CDRW in place of ...
Pros: light weight, 14.1 xga display screen, 1 ghz, 20 gig hd, fun to use. Cons: no built in web cam.
This has been a pretty good laptop. My husband gave this to me when he got him another one. He traded a digital camera for this one and he wanted one that had a built in web cam which this one doesn't, so I guess could be one of it's cons. But I ...
Pros: Size, weight, reliability, resolution, durability, expansion Cons: not usb 2.0
I AM a computer geek and I constantly upgrade my laptop here at work. I work in a computer software test lab. In the past 4 years I've used at least 10. Of course, I get ones that are better and better, so this one is the best I've had. In my department ...
Pros:Portable Cons: 1)Touch Pad very touchy.
2)Cooling fan in poor location.
1) I did not use Dells Tech Support 2) The Laptop was a gift so I do not know the price. I have owned both Dell and IBM laptops in the past 2 years, and would recommend an IBM laptop over the Dell, no matter which model. Synaptic Touch Pad Gets ...
Pros: If you don't push it and take care of it, it'll run fine Cons: Low storage space, battery dies fast, can't run games well or at all
I was tired of sharing the family's desktop with, well, the family. I really just wanted to be able to surf the web, play music and use word on my own time. I got my C610 of ebay for about 400 bucks, which I thought, was a tad pricey. For only 100 ...
I wouldn't spend my own money on it. by gbalt ,Jan 04 '05
Pros: Display Cons: too many parts failed too early in the product's life
(This is laptop is provided by my employer.) I have been using this laptop for 2 1/2 years, it get CONSTANT use (all day, everyday).
The motherboard died within the first 6 months along with one of the memory sticks. Within the first year the cursor developed this strange tendency to move on its own (a condition also experienced by my workmates using the same laptop.) The body is also cracking and breaking up where the screws come up from the bottom. Sometime the keyboard stops responding and requires a hard shutdown.
The display seems hardy and durable for all the use it gets.
Pros: - Full sized laptop
- Big clear screen
- Large HD
- Decent battery life Cons: - Keyboard fails at around 18+ months of regular use
- Big & Heavy
The Latitude C610, when used on a daily basis is a good machine. It has a decent sized hard disk, it has one built in drive at a time, its display is large and battery life is decent. The C610 is a full sized Laptop that is best suited for people that do not travel a lot. (travelers should go with the D400 as it is super light but does not have any built-in drives.)
After about 18 months it starts to fail. The keyboard wears in and starts to move the cursor around by itself. This can be remedied by downloading the newest touchpad drivers and disabling the joystick. Which leaves you with two choices, to use the touchpad exclusively, or plug in a mouse.
Hopefully you will still be under warranty and you can get your keyboard replaced. If not, you will be out one of your two control options.
I have had about half a dozen of our C610s keyboards replaced so far, all under warranty (about 50% of our 610s.) Dells tech support is terrific, they understand this is a common fault with this model and quickly handle each case.

Pros: Beautiful screen display. Not bad sound. Lots of plug-ins/ ports. Cons: Cursor sucks and battery life is no more than 1/2 hr.
I recently received the dell latitude C610 from my boyfriend for my birthday. He purchased it from a reliable seller on e-bay, refurbished. Great machine for basic things. I'm going to university and use it as a researching and writing tool. The 2 problems are the damn cursor! Curse the cursor! It decides to go down in a corner or up in a corner. And the battery will only last not more than 1/2 hour. I think I will have to investigate these matters further. Other than that it's great, buy one!
Pros: Fast
Cons: USB 1.1
Cursor sucks
Keyboard randomly breaks
Screen turned black and broke
My laptop is well over 3 or 4 years old and by now random keys don't work and the stupid mouse moves all over the screen. Other than that it runs fast and smooth. I think I broke it for good today when the cursor started moving I hit the keyboard in frustration and the screen froze. So I reboot and get a black screen but it seems to boot. I confirmed that it was by turning it on, leaving it for 45 mins then coming back and pressing ctrl-alt-del,my password, then enter and I heard the noise that windows makes upon start up. I got good usage out of it and today I hit it one time to many, and it is gone.

Pros: everything Cons: needed double usb input but no big deal
i use this laptop for djing off of it - works great - upgraded to a 40 gig hardrive and 1g ram with no gliches -
split the single usb 2.0 input to quad so i could input other devices - mouse - external 80 gig hard drive with 8000 + songs and sound card and mini light

Worst Laptop ive ever owned by nickg555 ,May 05 '08
Pros: resolution, lightweight, lap warmer Cons: falls apart, money pit, one usb port
well ive had absolutely no luck with this laptop .. 1 months in i open it one day and the screen snaps off from the rest... it has nice resolution and picture but its just a hunk of metal and plastic that just falls apart.. ive owned it for not even 5 months and ive gone through 4 power cords and have been holding the screen up the entire time... and every port has broken with little effort needed at all and theres just way to many flaws...really all this laptop is good for is a lap warmer
Pros: fast, good hd size, big screen Cons: the friggin wandering cursor of course
After verbally beating the heck out of the tech support staff at Dell, they finally admit, it's a design flaw and they are doing nothing about it. I tore one down to nothing but screws and found the problem was a metal support/stiffener under the palm rest that presses against the ribbon conecting the touchpad to the board. This thing is punched out, or die cut and has a sharp edge along the contacting surfaces. I used a piece of packaging tape that was 3-4 mil. thick on the underside of it and I can beat the heck out of the palm rest now and the cursor doesnt move. Yay for polyester.
I think the c610 is a good machine for the money. We have 50 in the field. I just have 49 more to go.
