by mmcphee Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50, Jun 26 '06
Pros: Inexpensive, easy to use and adjust, safe
Cons: A bit difficult to get on and off by myself
When we were planning our trip to Disney World we were in a quandary about which child traps to bring. The d ouble stroller was an obvious choice, as was the easy to pack s ling. ...

good baby carrier for short hikes

by doning2 , Oct 12 '03
Pros: Kickstand that stays open, inexpensive (relatively),
Cons: Adjustability is limited, ventilation is not so good
I bought the Cross Country baby carrier for my 17 month old daughter who likes the outdoors very much. When I was first deciding which model carrier to get, I considered the Kelty KIDS carriers, but I didn't like their kick stand designs which won't stay ...

The perfect carrier for hikes less than 3 hours.

by zlmajors Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Dec 25 '03
Pros: Safe, good looks, comfortable, good back support with good cushoning.
Cons: Not a lot of storage space, not ideal for long hikes.
My daughter was about to turn five, and I loved going on walks in the mall and in the woods with her, but the problem was that when I went for a walk in the woods I would often go up and down inclines that made it difficult to carry her in the baby ...

Indispensable on a big hiking trip

by ahohl1 , Mar 24 '07
Pros: Sturdy, comfortable and easy to use. Passenger loved it!
Cons: A few more outside pockets would have been nice.
We took the Evenflo Snugli framed carrier with us on a 6-week, 6,000-mile trip on my maternity leave with Child #2. Child #1 was 20 months old by then, and we were concerned she would be too big for a backpack. Fortunately, we received this backpack ...

Buy the Cross Terrain instead.

by yampotato , Mar 03 '04
Pros: Both Cross Country and Cross Terrain are comfortable carriers for a good price.
Cons: The Cross Terrain has a canopy, more padding, more compartments, and looks better.
I purchased the Snugli Cross Country frame carrier without canopy in 10/03 before the Cross Terrain came onto the market. I was reasonably happy with the product and the price, but I was always searching for an after-market canopy to add to the ...

Great carrier!
by earthmamajem ,Feb 18 '05
Pros: Attached "pouch" for baby items that makes a diaper bag not needed when out.
Cons: Began to rip after 2 years of use.
We bought this product in the winter of 2002 when our son was a few months old. He loved it! We enjoy carrying our children when out, and this was perfect for so many reasons. The biggest being that there is a pouch below the backpack for diapers,a water bottle, change of clothes, etc. We use cloth diapers, and the pouch is big enough to put a few cloth diapers along with many other things too! This backpack has been with us on many trips. Many times we just bring ourselves, our baby, and this backpack (because of the pouch).

The only negative is that with our second child (who is a year old) we have been using it and it just started tearing on the strap that is attached to the backpack. :(

But it did last us for over 2 years of use several times a week with both children. I would recommend this product, but, do be aware that in our case, it only lasted 2 years before it began to fall apart.

Great Child Carrier
by larryboypickle ,Oct 20 '03
Pros: Carrier has good adjustment for both me (6 ft) and my spouse (5"9"), and child.
Cons: One defect noted, one of the bolts backing up the lower strap attachement.
We researched the available carriers and found that this one fit the bill. We had started out with the Baby Borjn (sp) carrier, which my son outgrew by 7 months. This carrier has good adjustment for both me (6-ft) and my spouse (5"9"), as well as my son. My son loves his carrier and gives us a big grin and a squeal of delight when he is loaded into it. It is very comfortable year round, for both parent and child. Mom uses it everyday for walks and doing chores around the house. One defect noted after a few weeks - one of the bolts backing up the lower strap attachment had worked loose and popped out. The original bolt could not be reattached, since it was too short to hold - bad design? So I used a longer bolt and locked all the bolt threads with lock-tight. Thread lock-tight should have been used in assembly by the mfgrs to prevent this problem. No other concerns noted since. We are very pleased with the product thus far.

a good buy overall
by gt7941a ,Nov 01 '07
Pros: inexpensive, convenient, baby loves it, storage pockets
Cons: boring color, large men may not fit
We bought this because it was lightweight and fairly inexpensive. My 6'2 husband primarily wears it and it "just" fits him. I don't think it's really made for big men. The baby LOVES it. It soothes her stomach and gets us exercise at the same time. It has pockets for wallet, etc and comes with a sun shade. It is fairly adjustable for different size kids. It fits easily in the car and closet. This was a really great buy. I do think carriers should go all the way up to large men, because often tiny women are not the ones hauling a 40 pound kid on their back on a long hike. Other than that, I really do like it. It has a fold-out kickstand for loading baby into it before placing on your back.
