I'll be the first one to admit, I was disappointed with Zoo Tycoon when I began playing. I didn't let this stop me. Zoo Tycoon the complete collection was one of my favorite games, the sequel couldn't be that bad.

I was right.

Zoo Tycoon 2 is now one of my favorites.

My favorite attribute is Zoo-Keeper mode. You are now able to take on the view and role of a guest/Zoo Keeper/Maintenance Worker. You can save lots of $$$ by performing these duties yourself when you zoo is getting off the ground.

Zoo Tycoon 2 revamps many of the mundane aspects of their first success. Building exhibits, modifying terrain, and adhering to your budget are much more manageable now. Instead, you are given challenges dealing directly with the guests or animals.

This game is much more entertaining and educational.

Pros: more to do, more things to place and use
Cons: not even zooming out, sluggish, hangs up at times

I don't like it as well as the original Zoo Tycoon simply because i doesn't zoom out enough to give you a better view of what you are doing. It is sluggish and tends to hang up once you get a lot going unless you have a really good graphics card. I had to update mine before it would play right. All in all its all right but I still prefer the original over this one

Zoo tycoon 2 lets you "Create your dream zoos...get closer than ever" and it's right! It has brilliant 3-D graphics, lets you create different terrain for different types of animals, lets you interact with your animals as a zoo keeper, guest or photographer, over 300 objects, feed animals, groom animals and even play with your animals! You can even recieve awards for raising and breeding endangered species, or just creating the best zoo ever! You can have different types of fences, male or female animals, donation boxes, create valleys, cliffs, ditchs and hills. PHEW all that and more!!!

Well that's enough of what new stuff is on the game, what is it really about? When you first start the game, you just have an entrance and a load of land. I, personally, would start creating your perfect terrain. Smooth, rough, sandy, foresty, anything! Then put any type of fence around a certain piece of land, put a few tigers in, and viola! Carry on like this and you will be a master zoo creator or whatever you call it.

Pros: Fun, challenging, educational, great graphics, good tutorial
Cons: Runs slowly with insufficient memory

I really enjoy this game. You can build your own zoo, or you can play the included scenarios. There are many different levels (easy to very hard) for the scenarios, so there is something for everyone. The graphics are wonderful, and the amount of things you can do is impressive for a sim game. There is a good tutorial for getting started with all the menus and commands. It also includes an encyclopedia that describes all of the animals, their habitats, and their needs. The only drawback--it requires a lot of virtual memory, otherwise it freezes. I had to buy an extra memory card.

Pros: Has a cool concept.
Cons: Make's you sick. Doesn't work well.

I had the best game in the world: Zoo Tycoon the entire collection. Then I decided to trade it in for Zoo Tycoon 2, the dissapointment. The effects and graphics are so bad you can't play it without getting dreadly sick.
