Just bought this 2 days ago, it's the first bike I've ridden in 8 yrs. Although I don't highly recommend going with such a large bike the first time around, it's pretty easy to get used to. With some practice it should be fairly easy to avoid the starter bike and go straight to this. Balancing allows for a quick "Getting Used Too" period.
The lean limit is a little restricted due to the floor boards, and I'm not a huge fan of the placement/Clearance. Once available I plan on going with forward controls and getting rid of the heel shift although it's nice feature the size of my foot just wont allow me to lay it flat on the board.
The Handle bars are a little low (I'm 6'0") for me, also going to raise them up 3"-4".
I love the power it delivers, after returning from such a long stint without riding I'm a little hesitant with fast turns and found myself with a "large" gap from the rider in front but was able to catch up quickly on the straight aways. The engine responds quickly and will launch the bike from 40MPH too 75MPH before you know it. Definitely have to hold on tight at any speed, you can feel it wants to take off with or without you.
I put 112 miles on it the first day, and have to say after the first 40 miles of mountain back roads I had no problems, and actually looked forward to the next hill. The torque was there waiting to be used at every one, no hesitations (when I asked for it was there). I took the turns with caution because of the new tires and worry about the floor boards.
I paid $8300 for the bike, out the door it was $9800 (taxes, tags, delivery charges, 36 month extended warranty, Gap Insurance).
Recommended:
Yes
Amount Paid (US$): 9800
