Went from a 99 Suzuki Marauder to this. Overall a nice ride. The bike has a great look. I did buy it to go touring on weekend trips. The total allowed carry weight for bike is about 475 pounds, and each saddle bag can carry only 11 pounds. I am about 240 and wife is about 175, this does not leave much for carrying. Wife says the rear seat is great with a nice sissy bar location. The gearing is great in 5th, nice low rpm at 60-70mph. 2nd/3rd gear is very jerky when you engage the throttle. Have tried to turn on throttle very very slowly but still get the jerk when the engine engages the drive train. Spacing between 3rd/4th gear is kind of large. You need high RPM in 3rd to go up and very low RPM in 4th to go down, this could be improved. Overall low RPM riding is not the best, the drive train gives off way to much noise. Heat: your right leg gets WAY TOO MUCH heat coming from the air filter area off the engine. At low speeds it can be very bad. My clutch/starter interlock does not work, I must have it in neutral to start it. The sound is very much different from what other reviews say, I feel it is very very quite. I fully intend on getting a new exhaust. The handlebars are quite forward and requiring some stretching/leaning forward which does put some strain on the back. The mirrors are quite short and require that you move your head vice just your eyes to see behind you. This is all the bad stuff. The bike goes around town and on the highway wonderfully. The above are small negatives and are currently overcome by the good looks and great feeling ride.
UPDATE 7/20: Price: I paid $10,350 out the door. This includes a 48 month extended and all taxes, tags and anything else. When you negotiate for any vehicle just deal with OUT THE DOOR PRICE. I also had them throw in the 600 mile checkup for free. I made the service manager sign off on this to ensure I did not here something like "that guy can't approve that" like I have done in the past.
Low rpm: this cycle definately does not like low rpm's. There is quite a bit of jerk at low speed turns if you happen to stick in 2nd gear. So being careful on gear selection is important. But once you get up to speed and rpm it rides like a dream.
