| MITGeek's Full Review: Chart House |
Three of us went to the Chart House just under a month ago. There were only a few things I can remember about the restaurant:
1) It has free valet parking (you simply tip at your discretion) - a big plus in downtown Boston.
2) There was no wait - something unheard of in Boston's better restaurants. This fact and the fact that they take reservations might make it a worthwhile regular haunt for some.
2) My food was bland (an artichoke, some kind of fish, and some kind of dessert - none of which was memorable enough to specify) My companions had lobster which always tastes the same whether you pay a lot or a little for it.
3) We were excited to get to sit on the patio - until we discovered it was actually covered by a tent and was surrounded by the valet parking mentioned above. The water views we had hoped for were non-existent.
4) It cost us $50 per person and we had no wine and I had no alcohol at all. For this price we could have gone to any number of other great (and memorable) Boston restaurants like Lola Rokh, Biba, Olives, etc not to mention any number of cheaper restaurants with more interesting fare like East Coast Grill, Jae's Cafe, Diva, etc.
Overall, it's worth going to once just to judge for yourself (and some might actually like the dark wooden ambiance of the main dining room which we briefly passed through), but it is not something we would recommend for a second trip.
