Pros: Affordable and full-featured. Great handling. Very strong motor for a 600. Cons: Gearing is annoying. Choke's a little strange. Mirrors could be a little larger and wider
The 2006 Katana 600 is a beautiful bike. The fairing is gorgeous and the modern headlight design looks great. I bought mine new, in black. Frankly, it needs a little break-in time to run right. It took mine until my 600 mile initial service before it ...
Pros: Affordable, comfortable, good ergonomics, USER FRIENDLY Cons: Not the fastest bike in town, small rear tire, off-the-shelf parts
If you want to travel between states and have a sportsbike, but you don't want to spend $10,000, this bike is for you. Its a great bike to learn on, its pretty comfotable (althought, I perfer the pre 98 seats over these, the new seats make you feet like...
Pros: its a bike. confortable sitting position for a street bike. Cons: overweight and underpowered. gearing is all wrong. soft suspension
this bike is a kick. its heavy as hell though. i honestly couldnt recommend buying it over an sv650 of the comperable year. its to heavy, not very powerfull, and to heavy. its a heavy bike.... 460lbs i think. the gearing is to low and the suspensions to soft. gearing on the freeway is good, not buzzy for a 600, but for real fun it needs to be taken down a gear in the front and up a few in the rear.
problems with it -
short in cooling fan, runs till battery is dead
battery died @ 2 years old, not so good.
tires lasted 9k - decent
rear brake pads out at 9k as well
Fun and reliable. Good handling and Looks too! by wiznutz ,Apr 18 '04
Pros: Reliable, fast, comfortable, good looking, good seat position. Cons: Heavy (460 pounds).
This bike is a blast! I would recommend this bike to beginners with some experience on motorcycles in general or intermediate riders. It handles great in my opinion for a heavy bike (460 pounds). It is fast, although mine is not stock and slight adjustments make this bike awesome. My Katana 600 has a D&D carbon fiber slip-on exhaust ($500) that is loud and adds HP. Also, I put a one tooth smaller front sprocket with an o-ring chain ($380). A stage 2 jet kit ($125) also gives more power. With these simple mods, the bike is greatly improved! I also have the tank pad, grips, levers, and bars ends in carbon fiber, just for looks. For all riders, get Xenon blue highlights which greatly improve sight in front, and LED brake light for the rear which will be 10 times brighter than stock. If you want a great bike that runs good and you can acquire for a good price, than this is your bike.
