The 2003 Dark Star Makes a Statement

by kayakin , Oct 14 '02
Pros: Styling, Handling, Raw Appeal for a Re-Entering Rider
Cons: Are You Kidding?
After a seven-year absence, I decided to resume my 20-year riding career. Like many others, I was originally drawn to my local Harley dealer, but received many admonitions concerning the investment required to turn a Sportster into a viable (from a...

The Stellar Midnight Star

by randparr , Feb 24 '02
Pros: Stunning appearance, superb engineering, excellent quality, stable handling characteristics.
Cons: Consoling Harley riders who discovered this bike after it was too late.
When I began my search for a classic cruiser, I immediately came into contact with the brilliant marketing campaign of Harley Davidson. The look, the sound, the legend of American iron - all quite powerful imagery, cleverly designed to sweep prospective...

Bad to the bone !

by rzeisel , May 08 '02
Pros: Quality, Style, Sound, Price
Cons: No longer the biggest cruiser on the market
June 2002
-----------
The 2002 Yamaha Midnight Star is the second Yamaha Star family motorcycle that I've purchased in the past two years. I bought a 2001 1100 V-Star Classic in April 2001 and put over 8000 miles on it in a little over 1 year....

The Whole Truth

by docwolfe , Nov 21 '03
Pros: Price, soft tail style, size, comfort, aftermarket parts availability.
Cons: Paint, chrome, inferior to Harley. Transmission recall '01's. Bridgestone tires wear out at 7,500.
This motorcycle is a bargain. New, you'll pay about half of what you'd pay for a comparable Harley Fatboy or Heritage Classic. Aftermarket parts are plentiful, but you must use your dealer, or better yet, get them online. The Midnight has very good ...

What a bike!

by kwazimoto , Jan 10 '04
Pros: Reliability, Style, Sound, Power and Value!
Cons: Warning: This bike may cause cases of extreme jealousy from "Hog" owners!
I hadn't ridden a bike in almost 20 years and recently decided that, now that the kids are grown, I'm going riding again! For weeks I looked at many bikes from all different makes, I really like the look of the Harley "Fat Boy" with its "Terminator" ...

Excellent Cruiser with Lots of Power

by chrisb804 , Sep 04 '05
Pros: Nice price, tons of options for adding or upgrading, very easy to maintain
Cons: Hope gas mileage improves. Dealership quoted 50mpg
I recently purchased the 2005 Road Star with some Silverado items added on. In the first week of ownership, I drove over 600 miles. The 2005 engine is 1670cc and gas mileage so far has been 39mpg. I expect this number to go higher as the bike is broken ...

2005 Yamaha Roadstar Midnight 1700

by siuol , Apr 07 '06
Pros: looks, engine, power, chrome, many accesories,
Cons: sound, pricey accesories,
The first thing that stands out on this bike is its masive size. I must say that I was somewhat intimidated in the showroom when I sat on it. My previous bike was a Virago 750, which became too small after a day on it. It was my first bike so I did not ...

Problems: Poor Customer Service! Oil Leak @ 7400 miles!

by cherring2283 , Nov 19 '05
Pros: The prettiest pile of crap I've ever seen.
Cons: Poor Quality, Resale, & Corp Customer Service. Also, too much Fender Wag.
Started riding when I was 4yo. Had Honda's and Kawasaki's til I was 17yo. Hadn't ridden since then. Got cable tv for the 1st time @ 35 years old (Feb '04)and started watching "American Chopper", "Biker Build Off", and other cable biker programs. Got ...
