2005 - it only gets better

by oldbikerhen , Sep 08 '05
Pros: good looks, good sound, great performance, low centre of gravity, good handling, good price
Cons: needs an oil relocation filter, seat could be better
2005 VStar 100 Classic with the Silverado package. Price $10,800 + taxes (Canadian). I love this bike. I have only had it for 2 weeks, as I got a very good end-of-the-year deal from our local Yamaha dealer that I couldn't pass up. I had been cruising ...

High Quality Bargain!

by endurodave , May 04 '02
Pros: Beautiful bike, strong motor, air-cooled, hard-tail look, windshield, saddlebags, price
Cons: Seat is uncomfortable after an hour
I recently purchased the 2002 V-Star 1100 Silverado. I really wanted the windshield and saddlebags so the Silverado made the most sense. I tried the V-Star 650 and while nice and definitely lighter didn’t seem to have enough power for me. Also, the 650...

Comfortable Semi-Touring Cruiser after 45k miles

by pick126 , Jul 18 '04
Pros: Looks, comfort, stability
Cons: Fuel economy, valve adjustment required
I came to the 2003 Silverado from a Vulcan 750 which I had set up as a touring bike. The Vulcan was t-boned by a car which resulted in the totalling of the bike and the amputation of my right leg below the knee. When it came time to get a new bike I ...

2005 Yamaha V Star 1100 Silverado

by jeezfreek , Dec 27 '05
Pros: Appearance, plenty power, great tone, sufficient storage, terrific handling, gas saver, tons of fun!
Cons: Seat comfort (corrected), oil filter changes (corrected).
How else can I begin reviewing this bike without saying, "I love this bike"?? I bought this 1100 new in May 2005 and have put 7,500 miles on it so far. I have the "Liquid Gold & Metallic Black color scheme. This bike is heads-up on other bikes since it ...

VStar 1100 Silverado - An Unbelievable Bike!

by dfloyd1009 , Jan 25 '04
Pros: Beautiful bike, good power, big enough without being too big, lots of options
Cons: Valve tap, stock pipes do not rumble
I have owned this bike for a while now and it still just draws me into riding it! I find that if I go too long without riding, I start feeling sick. When I started searching for a bike, I started and ended the search with Yamaha. My wife and I were ...

Looks, Power and Chrome!

by troutman2000 , Dec 24 '01
Pros: Great looks, Good power, Easy to handle, Fun-Fun-Fun
Cons: Valve tap at low speed is annoying.
I was in the market for a mid sized cruiser to use for commuting and weekend rides. I've always liked the looks of the Yamaha line and I owned a 750 Virago back in 86. So when I got back in the market for a new bike I started and ended my search with a...

Silverado 1100

by pat_b_miller , Apr 09 '02
Pros: Definitely the looks, it handles great
Cons: None, really
I decided to re-enter the riding world after abstaining for at least 15 years. My wife said it was now OK since the teenagers show no interest in riding. Since I am no longer seduced by crotch-rocket acceleration, I decided on a more comfortable ride....

V Star's in my eyes

by radioguy70 , May 17 '02
Pros: Awesome Looks Great price Handling is very good
Cons: Seat can be uncomfortable
Love the 2002 Yamaha V-star Classic Silverado looks as good as a HD for a tenth of the price. It is easy to ride even if you have been away from bikes for a while. The V-Star's fit and finish in my opinion is better than any other bike in it's class. The...

Outstanding Value

by dpbailey , Nov 28 '04
Pros: What I envisioned a cruiser to be. Excellent fit, performance, and looks.
Cons: STUPID location for oil filter. As with all bikes, after market goodies cost too much.
I have never written a review for a motorcycle but the experience I have had with this excellent motorcycle compels me to put in my two cents. I think it is important to give physical stats so you can compare apples to apples. I am male, 57 years old, ...

NIce Bike
by sunsetrider ,Nov 14 '04
Pros: Nice looking! power to handle 2 up riding well Easy handling around twisties
Cons: Seat sucks upper power band needs more torque needs oil filter relocater floorboards scrape
Great looking Bike. I moved up from 650 suzuki savage (starter) . Lots of torque up to about 65. Engine feels like it strains at 70 and above but I think it just seems it as I've had it over 100 mph with 2 up. Remember the 1100 is really 1066cc. Studded Seat looks great but hurts your butt after an hour. Saddle bags hold a lot. Very loud with after market pipes. With a corbin /mustang seat and highway pegs you should be ok with this great looking medium cruiser.

Quick response, terrific looks, style, fun ride.
by orlandocoronel ,Dec 19 '05
Pros: Easy to handle, gorgeous looks, easily hauls 2 people.
Cons: changing oil filter need to remove the exhaust. Seat hard on a long haul.
I love this bike! The bike is so responsive, I love the way it corners and it has a quick response in passing gear. It handles really well on the highways at the higher speeds.
Overall, I think the V-Star Silverado is a comfortable, affordable, well-equipped, and easy to ride motorcycle. it is a great bike for beginner or experienced riders.
Worth every penny, I think it's the best medium-size bike on the market!

Great Bike!! Looks!! Comfort!!
by diane655 ,Nov 30 '04
Pros: Looks, comfort (other than seat) good price, Good buy for the money
Cons: SEAT
Great bike, have had for 2 years, no mechanical problems, runs great, looks great, very comfy for the driver but the drivers seat sucks, don't know about the passenger seat. Had to change mine to a Mustang seat, other than that it's a really great bike, have put 6,000 miles on in 2 years and no problems.

I love my 1100 Yamaha Classic w/Silverado package
by ffbill67 ,Feb 27 '04
Pros: Looks, Power, the whole package
Cons: The seat could be cut deeper, not enough lower back support
body is low to the ground, awsome center of gravity when cornering, hugs the road. This bike has everything you need to start cruising right off the showroom floor. It has all the chrome, winshield, bags, backrest for passengers, and all it needs is a few adds to make it perfect, I added a front crash bar and some Highway pegs. Plenty of get up and go, pretty much all the power that you need. Great low end tourque, stops well, and skids straight in emergency stops. Over all, this is an awsome bike, everybody that sees it cant believe its not a "Harley", the color scheme, the depth of the black paint with it's gold flecks in the paint, the cranberry, the chrome, absolutley beautiful.

Oil filter Change
by naco0319 ,Mar 20 '06
Pros: maintenence almost free, easy to handle and very sonfortable to ride it
Cons: Oil filter change very hard to do it
The oil filter change is not a two minutes operation, to change the filter is hard to get to since you have to remove many parts of the exhaust system to get to it is a nightmare otherwise a awesome bike
