Performance in a Luxury Sport Tourer

by go_skoot , Nov 08 '04
Pros: Performance, quality, electric windshield, cruise control, heated seat and grips in a killer sport tourer.
Cons: High price (but good value), range.
One month after taking delivery of my 2004 BMW K 1200 GT I've put about 4500 miles on it and the longer I have it the more I like it. I'm 49 and have ridden for 33 years on many bikes, but this is my first BMW. My other bike is a Honda VTX 1800 C,but ...

UPPING THE STANDARDS FOR SPORT TOURERS

by drum_master007 , Oct 31 '06
Pros: Smooth ride, superior comfort, windshield adjust (on the fly) rocket like acceleration, cruise control.
Cons: haven't found any yet. I'll let you know when I do.
I just purchased my K1200GT about three months and 4000 miles ago. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have stumbled upon my bike. I was talking with a dear friend who was looking for a tourer and suggested that he look at BMW before he purchased ...

This is a GREAT bike!

by brewnbiker , Aug 01 '07
Pros: powerful, smooth engine; standard touring equipment; great riding position; and responsive handling.
Cons: Expense to buy new. You can still find used bikes for a lot less.
I bought my 2004 GT new from a dealer in Atlanta. I had been riding a 2002 Suzuki Bandit 1200S for just over 2 years prior to getting the GT. I bought the Bandit for sport touring and it did ok but was lacking a lot of stuff that makes long distance ...

Exceptionally Smooth and Powerful Sport Touring Bike

by phitur , Apr 28 '05
Pros: Powerful, comfortable, responsive, elegant, impressive handling, high quality, electronic cruise control, heated seat and hand-grips.
Cons: Heavy bike, needs handlebar risers for added comfort.
I purchased this bike new in the summer of 2004 after not riding for over a decade. I was a bit nervous about the 600 mile drive back from where I bought it. I asked the dealer to let me ride another bike just to get the feel again, prior to riding my ...

You should own this bike!
by muskelbilder ,Jun 25 '05
Pros: Shaft drive, servo controlled anti-lock brakes, GPS, heated grips, fuel injection, lots of smiles.
Cons: The only "con" is rain.
I have owned this bike for 3 years now, and it is the first and only motorcycle I have ever owned. I bought it, took a class to learn how to ride, and have smiled every minute since. Living in Florida, I have ridden as far North as Daytona Beach and as far South as Key West. People just stop and look as I go by, and ask me about it all the time. I ride it to the gym if I'm just looking for an excuse to ride. With this bike, I'm always looking for an excuse to ride it. I have not seen a bike since that I have wanted. You only brake with your right hand. The servos do the rest. Cruise control is rock solid. In summary: Great for road trips, AND around town.

Pros: Fuel consumption,seat,brakes that really work,wind protection,grunt,packing space,clock,gear indicator,heated seats and grips.Fuel consumption,worst 16km/l best 20km/l!
Cons: Feels awkward when going very slow, like parking area. Sorry nothing else...
Well, why on earth have I taken so long in buying a BMW?
After 30 years of riding, daily, all weather,I have finally Taken hold of a 2004,k1200gt.Incredible,safe,well planned and light.
Steering ,whilst going slow..is heavy. But already getting use to it.Brakes, fuel consumption, packing space, speed control, and the wife LOVES it.Butt not sore after doing a one way trip of 560km,and in summer heat.Thank you BMW,for directing hot air, away from the riders legs, when the fans do come on,all my other bikes grilled you.Best consumption was 20,4 km to a litre!Worst 16 km/l in extreme wind, with some spirrited riding. This lady CAN lift a skirt if needed.
Well done BMW!
Previous rides.Gl1500,ST 1300,new,Vulcan 2000.And many other brands. Will I stick with the GT?What a question. Those we are coplaining of the small tank.Guys, how far do you really want to go,to keep on the safe side and sipping on a Milkshake?
