Pros: Sophisticated suspension, amazing brakes, advanced design. Cons: Loses a star for its uncomfortable seat and poor ergonomics.
The motorcycles that BMW sells today are basically the same design that BMW sold with their first bike in 1923. An air-cooled horizontally opposed "boxer" twin with shaft drive. BMW has had 80 years to perfect that design concept, and the 2004 R1150R is ...

Pros: Brakes, suspensions, comfort Cons: Ordinary noise, lack of charm
This is the 2nd BMW I drive after an old R65/5, so I am really not a Münich zealot. My main references are an '86 VFR750 and a '98 R1. I've come to like BMW bike designs over time, as they abandonned the "function over design" paradigm. There are ...

by mrmr2 ,May 12 '05
Pros: Quality, fun to drive, looks. Did I mention quality??? Cons: Maybe a bit heavy at low speeds. That's all.
I've owned my r1150r for about 2 months now, and I absolutely love it! This bike screams quality!!!! It is fun to drive, very comfortable, and very good looking design. (I live in Italy...Design and style is very important! I've owned many japanese bikes, as well as ducatis and harleys (crap). This is the best bike i've ever owned. If you are thinking about getting this bike, go for it, you won't be disappointed!!!!

Nice motorcycle - girls love it
by d251cd ,Mar 24 '06
Pros: Looks sporty. Girls love it. Anti-lock breaks are excellent. Cons: It overheated on me and cost $1,500.00 to repair.
I bought this motorcycle about a year and a half ago.
It's a pretty good motorcycle. The anti-lock breaks are excellent. The bike does not dive on its front forks when you slam on the breaks. It is red. Girls love it. I used to ride them all around but then I got married in November. You look great on this motorcycle whether you are 20, 35, or 65 years old. I figure I can keep this motorcycle for the rest of my life. I thought an 1150cc motorcycle would be faster going from 50 to 70 mph. The seat is not too comfortable and the gas mileage is not that great. I have always maintained this motorcycle at the BMW dealer which is pretty expensive. The worst thing about this motorcycle is that it overheated on me (it's air cooled) and it cost me $1,500.00 to repair.
