Pros: Grippy, corner well, good on wet pavement and snow too. Cons: None that I've found.
High-speed rated tires are extremely expensive, and even if you don't want to drive fast, too bad if you have a car capable of going fast, tire stores won't sell you tires rated less than the top speed of your car. I have a Subaru SVX. Top speed is ...
Pros: Best high performance tire for the money. Cons: They leave terrible black stripes on the pavement. Hehe!
I have a 1995 Mustang GT that originally came with Goodyears (which were toast in 50K mi.). The goodyears were the worst tire, slippery in the rain, went nowhere in the snow (very bad), and didn't hook up on dry pavement. BFG KDWS's are an awesome ...
Pros: Great grip, high treadwear Cons: price, stiffness of tire, no warranty (Z-rated)
For a Z-rated tire with treadwear higher than my dad's michelins, they should have put a mileage guarantee on these things. a bit pricy, but comparable to tires like Goodyear;s Eagle F1GS found on Vettes and F-bodies. in my opinion, they have a tighter...
Pros: Grip; wet and snow traction; all-season ability; handling; hard to skid Cons: not readily available everywhere
I went to Sears Tire & Auto center about 6 months ago because the tires on my '94 Eclipse were beginning to scare me while driving in snowstorms. I asked for some suggestions there, explaining that I wanted a nice all-season tire with great traction and...
Pros: Excellent wet traction, good handling Cons: Tread life not as advertised
I bought a set of these from Costco for my 91 Taurus SHO. They feel great, wet traction is excellent, snow traction is adequate. My main gripe - the G-Force's 400 treadwear rating is a bit of wishful thinking by Goodrich. They handle like a dream for...
Pros: quieter than some others, grips like they're holding on for dear life Cons: not great wear, don't try them in the snow
The trade-off with performance tires has always been grip/handling vs wear/noise/expense. For my money, this is a "part" often overlooked by people who will spend money getting a performance vehicle. My car came from the dealer with Dunlop SP Sport ...
Beware the KDWS will Blow-out by funk49 ,Nov 27 '06
Pros: Handles fairly well and wet traction is good Cons: Another case of tire separating at very low mileage. Always had sway in them.
My 2005 GTO came newly equipped with 245/45-17 g-Force T/A KDWS. At first I thought the tire rode and handled pretty well and had good traction in the wet. However, they always seemed to have a little sway like the car was to heavy for them (3700lbs.)or that the tire was under-inflated (though it was always at 35lbs). At 4,960 actual miles on car and tires, my right rear tire came apart at 55 m.p.h. The sidewall separated from the tread as if someone caught it out with a razor knife. Clearly a defect in the tire. At this writing I am in battle with the dealership where I bought the Pontiac in Newnan, Georgia (it's still under warranty-tires and all) and I'm trying to convince them that the tires are unsafe and I'm scared to death to ride with them any further on my car.
Steady, but only if you don't push too hard by tomselina ,Mar 25 '04
Pros: OK for highway driving, light street duty. Rain's OK too. Good tread ware. Cons: Forget about traction with higher horsepower applications!
I bought 285s for the rear and 245s for the front after I supercharged my 2000 Mustang GT. They seems OK grip-wise for a few months, but only 10k into the tread ware (40k lifespan), they are very haphazard on takeoff. In fact, I can't even "launch" above 1500rpm, much less make a quick shift to 2nd without going out of control with wheel spin. If you have less than 200hp, I'm sure they're great. Over that, go for the Goodyear Eagle F1-G3.
BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDWS blew after 9000 miles by devlins ,Aug 05 '06
Pros: Good looks. Economy price. Cons: do not compatible with BMW. inside wall cracked and blew under 10K miles.
I bought 4 brand new KDWS for my 2003 530I. Just after 9000 miles the rear left tire blew on the freeway. The tire literally was torn in half as if someone use a knife to cut 360 degree around it on the inside wall (?!). The tread was in good condition but definitely it was a factory defect, poor QC for sure. The sale rep from Discount Tire at first claimed that tire could have been punched by a nail and with low pressure, "the friction caused it to tear apart".(?!). I do not see any sense or logic out of that explanation as I have had nail in my tires before and never encounter a situation where a flat tire has caused the tire to be torn apart. Anyhow the guy made me upgrade to 4 brand new Micheline Sport of which I feel I should not have to pay for the bad tire. It was not a happy experience at all. I would never put these tires on my BMW ever again nor recommend them to anyone!!
