57,000 miles gives you a lot of time to evaluate a set of tires. My calculator tells me that this is equivalent to approximately 1,700 hours of driving time. My butt concurs. The set of Bridgestone Touranza EL42s currently on my vehicle came as stock ...
Pros: Long tread life - 70K miles and going strong Cons: Expensive
I guess Im going to be in the minority here, but here goes. I have a 2003 Nissan Maxima that came with a set of Bridgestone Turanza EL42 tires, size 215/55-17, V-rated. The car is just about to turn 70,000 miles and the tires are still in good ...
Pros: Good dry traction/handling.
Mediocre wet handling.
Decent noise/comfort level. Cons: Way too expensive.
Low treadwear.
Severe flat-spotting issues.
OEM on my 2004 Acura TL automatic, size 235/45ZR/17, W speed-rated. Just under 10,000 miles so far (Dec 1, 2004). Baltimore-DC area. Highway-city-suburb mix of driving. UPDATE July 22, 2005, 25,000+ miles... Well, the tires are not worn to the ...
Pros: original equipment, smooth ride initial 1000 miles Cons: short life, quick to deteriorate, no warranty
I purchase a Sienna XLE Limited in Dec2003 with the EL42 tires 225/60r17. I replaced two tires on Nov2004 after only 19,000 which were worn down. I replaced another tire on Apl2005 due to a flat spot on the tire. This tire was replaced on Nov2005 due ...
My wife's new 2007 Chrysler Town & Country came equipped with these Bridgestones from the factory. She experienced a loss of pressure at highway speed on the left rear tire. She called me and asked what to do. Due to a recent snowstorm, she could not ...
Pros: No squeal, long life. Cons: Relatively expensive, and hard riding (which might be the car!).
I just wanted to add my 2 cents. I found out (from a Tire Rack "consultant" (highly recommended) that this tire was made custom for Infiniti, which is why they are more expensive than they should be. Bridgestone is doing misleading naming by calling this ...
Pros: none Cons: Non-existent wet or snow traction, in any condition
Here in the Northeast..we just experienced the first major snowfall, over the past weekend, December 9th, 05 I have a 2005 Saturn Vue Red Line, V6 all wheel drive. The Car was outfitted stock with 245/50/18 Turanza EL-42. This car, fitted with ...
Medium grade, low life, expensive tire by staticman ,Feb 02 '05
Pros: You can brag to everyone how much you spent on tires. Cons: They exist. Had retreads last longer and run truer.
Not impressed. Just removed after 30,000 miles of use. They were a little noisy, especially with bumps and cracks, rode hard, and wore quickly, developing cupping and flat spots. Most of all, after balancing to perfection, still hopped down the road. Tire actually twisted slightly out of shape not running true on the wheel even though the wheel was true. Whined so bad I though it was a rear wheel bearing at first. ( So did alignment mechanic) Take very good care of my cars, aligning every 6 months and balancing every 4 months. These tires were aggravating me with constant vibrations and road input through the wheel. OK on dry, not great in wet and ho-hum in snow. Not confidence builder when going got dicey. Basically they are 20,000 mile tires for a 80,000 mile price. Replaced with Michelin HydroEdge's and it was like putting a new suspension on the car! (Regal GS)
Amazing difference. Wasted money on the Turanza's.
Excessive road noise on new car by silentk ,Jun 09 '06
Pros: Good handling, probably due to BMW steering, not the tires. Cons: Excessive road noise within first 8K miles.
Premature wear.
These Bridgestone Turanza EL42 tires came stock on my 2006 BMW 325i. After a few months (now at 13K miles) road noise began and has gotten progressively worse. This is my wife's car, she uses it to drive kids around to school, dance classes, etc (not a commute vehicle).
Took care to dealer, technician noticed noise immediately, said other customers have been in reporting same problem. I sent letters to BMW North America and the dealer. BMW NA called me said talk to Bridgestone. Bridgestone referred me to local dealer.
Local dealer's tech noticed bad noise immediately. Premature wear on outside edges of front both front tires is causing the noise. Dealer wants to blame alignment or suspension - gimme a break. My feeling... these tires are bad news, especially when you see the other replies here. Don't buy them.
**Update: Went back to the dealer. Service Mgr agreed tires wearing premature. He had BMW rep drive car and he agreed to replace the 2-tires. I will buy Michelin when its time to replace them. Mean time I'll try rotating every 3,000 miles.
Pros: Good Handling and performance tire Cons: Thread wear too fast, not worth the price
tires came stock on my 2007 Mazda CX-7, at 23,000 miles they were worn down to the thread wear indicators. Tires have been rotated twice and balanced once. The wear has been even all the way around. starting from a stop tires always slip and pull to the right, after a lot of research on the web I will replace these tires with a set of Falkans ZIEX 255/55R-18
These came as original equipment on a 2005 Solara (215/55 R17). Though I forgot to rotate them regularly, one pair of tires is done at 27K miles, the other pair has another 3K left on them. Not surprising considering the treadwear rating is 260. Why Toyota chose to install those is beyond me. I will replace all 4 this week with Goodyear Assurance TripleTreds.
2006 BMW 325i-deafening tires!! by hal26 ,Jan 08 '07
Pros: You can drive on em if you have a flat-black does not show dirt Cons: Noisy, expensive, costly, deafening, howling, vibrating POS -poor traction, poor tread wear, warranty sucks BIGTIME!!
These are MISERABLE tires...at 17K they started howling below 60 mph and the slower you go,the louder they get.At 10mph they sound and feel like a wheel bearing is failing.Harsh ride, poor wear,so-so traction,HUGE PRICE....these babies have it all!!!
