Good camera, great price

Pros: Compact, flexible yet easy, inexpensive, EF mount Cons: 28-90 lens is inferior, doesn't accept infrared film
If you're new to the SLR world, you could do a lot worse than the Rebel. It's intuitive design and features make learning photography fun and easy. It has everything a beginner could want, and it has presets in case you don't want. The only drawback is the 28-90 lens that comes with it. While it's nice to have a little bit of zoom, this lens is inferior both in mechanics and light abilities. I would recommend buying the body and a 50 or 55mm lens. That lens doesn't zoom but it's one of the more popular lenses and it can capture low light pictures without having to fuss with the flash. The beauty of Canon's lens system is the interchangeability. Any EF lens will work on this camera and most if not all of Canon's cameras within the past few years.
