Pros: Alleviates sleep difficulties during those hot, miserable nights; relieves headaches, back pain, etc. Cons: Just a couple. Please see review.
Intrigued is the word I used when I first heard of the Chillow cooling device on the Oprah show a while back. While I am not yet at the point of menopause, I do occasionally get the dreaded "night sweats". I wake up in the middle of the night, ...
Pros: It's cool without being cold so skin damage is pretty much impossible. Cons: The smell; texture of the inner material; and weight. MILDEW---yuck!
***UDPATE****One of ours is leaking--I'm going to contact the manufacturer--I'll report back the findings. REVIEW: Hot flashes? Trouble sleeping? Theres a new way to chill-out at night! I saw this originally on Oprah, but didnt think ...
Pros: Nice idea...in theory Cons: Time-consuming, complicated & messy set-up procedures, very high maintenance, heavy, bunches up, eventually leaks
In their advertising, they make it sound like turning your pillow over looking for the cool spot is a big chore...well, not near as much of a chore as setting up and maintaining one of these babies! I expected something that would be easy to use and ...
Pros: Simple technology that works. Using only water you can keep your pillow Cool all night Cons: Your pillow is only as cool as room temperature. Not very effective in hot temperatures.
Make no mistake, the Chillow (or "Chillow Pillow", as I affectionately call it) does what it says, it gives you that "cool pillow" feeling all night long. But this is no magic piece of technology, nor does it use a mini air conditioner inside of it, it ...
Pros: Easy to set up/use, does what it claims to do, works for almost anyone Cons: Relatively heavy when filled, doesn't pull moisture (i.e. sweat) away like a regular pillow
I first saw the Chillow advertised in a catalog and thought, "Wow! What a fantastic idea!" I told my husband I wanted it for Mothers Day so he shopped around for it but, low and behold, could not find it anywhere. Thankfully we didn't order it from the ...
Pros: Comfortably cool. Easy set-up. Cons: You do lose the cushy soft feeling of your own pillow.
After suffering (and I DO mean "suffering!") with night sweats and hot flashes, I decided to try out the Chillow. I read about it on a message board for menopausal women and was fortunate to find it on sale at a local store. I've used it just once so ...
Pros: It does actually stay cool Cons: bunches too easily, hassle to get the air out of it
My husband is quite the hot sleeper. I found out about the Chillow online. It's a product that you can put inside your pillow or use directly on your skin to keep cool. You put water inside of it, and there is some sort of special material inside that ...
Pros: Feels great for the few hours that it works, nontoxic solution, novel concept.
Cons: Plastic smell, clammy feel, time-consuming set up, too heavy, does not stay cool long.
PROS: Feels great for the few hours that it works, nontoxic solution, novel concept. CONS: Strong plastic smell, damp clammy feel to touch, time-consuming set up and maintenance, too heavy, difficult to slide into pillowcase, does not stay cool long ...
I've recommended the Chillow to a lot of people. I've had mine for two years and I haven't had any trouble with leakage. I prefer sleeping in a cold room but during the hot summer, that is almost impossible. The Chillow, inside my pillowcase, gives me ...
Pros: It truly works. Stays cool. Low maintenance. Worth it! Cons: After 2 years, seam leaked slightly, canvas tent patch glue fixed it.
I purchased the Chillow at a Science Discovery store for my husband because he is always complaining he is hot. He didn't use it because he said he wasn't into "gimmeks." I decided to give it a try. At first I put it inside my pillow case, but it was too ...
Chillow is WONDERFUL for hot flashes by teashop ,Sep 12 '08
Pros:
natural hot flash relief
Cons: requires careful measuring of water and filling, not hard to do
I've waited 3 weeks before writing my review to be sure the chillow didn't leak or "not work" as per some of the reviews that I had read before ordering. I have not had ANY problem with it. If you follow the filling instructions exactly, it won't leak and it does work. The prinicpal is that the water inside the chillow is at room temperature and USUALLY that is going to be below body temp of 98.6 unless you live in extremely hot temperatures. I live in the South and don't always run the ac at night and it still works great. I do find that over a course of an hour or so, the chillow warms to my body temperature where I have my head placed on it and if I turn ithe chillow around, it is cool in the new spot. When a hot flash wakes me up, I turn my chillow and it's so soothing to have coolness next to your neck and face. I absolutely recommend this to women suffering from hot flashes . Mine are horrible and with my chillow and a fan directly on me...I do get back to sleep quickly.
chillow great for hot sleepers by roche11e ,Oct 16 '03
Pros:
stays cool for a long time without any power source. feels really nice. Cons: it warms after about 4 hours,
i am buying my second chillow.
Bought the first one with an old boyfriend (before i was married) he was a person who got hot during the night, and loved a cold pillow. When we saw the chillow, Bought it for $29 in a store. He LOVED it. slept with it Every night!
it will warm up during the night. but keeps its cool well,
and chills back up quickly, simply though a fan or just letting it be. I never used it much,But on occasion found it quite nice, and wouldnt mind one myself, and think it makes a nice gift. the pets seem to like it also.
I am currently buying one for my husband, but will be paying less online :) he also is a hot sleeper.
Overall I highly recommend the Chillow.
love the chillow-- but $29 is too much would buy more--yes!
p.s. we did get a small leak in a corner,(from a kitten claw) sooo be careful..it would be nice if the material was tougher like the canine cooler.
Chillow didn't live up to my expectations. by appaloo ,Aug 06 '04
Pros: Nice concept. Cons: Needs improvement. Not tough enough. Didn't stay cool long enough. Bunches too easily. Heavy.
We purchased two Chillows. My husband tosses and folds his pillow alot and the Chillow would get all bunched up.
I found it didn't stay cool enough all night long. I would wake up with night sweats and the Chillow would not be cool enough to be any help.
Pros: Huge relief for hot flashes, temperature is perfect , stays cool for a long time. Cons: Heavy, not big enough, does tend to slide around, harder than I would prefer.
A friend told me about the Chillow when I was complaining about yet another night of hot flashes. I went out and bought it immediately and have used it every night since. In fact, I recently bought a second one. I use one on top of my pillow and the other on top of a second pillow that I place under my knees. The combination of the two is absolute heaven. I even bring one with me when I travel. I have recommended the Chillow to many of my friends and they each have bought one too and not one has complained about it. This summer, I may even buy one more!
