Pros: Neat, compact little machine, with good safety features and adequate for the home office. Cons: Takes a while to shred, you need to be vigilant so it doesn't jam.
Intro Newspapers pile up pretty quickly and it seemed a shame not to use them for the garden. However, short of tearing or cutting them by hand, the only other option was to buy a shredder. The first one I bought didnt last long it ...

Not so great
by jpk1121 ,Aug 17 '05
Pros: Large bin for shredded material. Cons: Does not shred to capacity as stated, motor runs poorly.
I just bought this shredder from Office Depot. I am using it to replace my ShredMate, also from Fellowes. This shredder is quiet and claims to have the capacity (for shredded material) I am looking for.
However, the motor does not run very well. I put one single credit card in it (which the directions indicate is acceptable) and it almost jammed. The shredder barely accepted 5 sheets of paper, while the owner's manual states the capacity is 6 sheets of paper. I was shredding some old checks, not even full sheets of paper, and the shredder really bogged down. I then attempted to shred a plastic health insurance card, and the shredder jammed totally. This card was not nearly as thick as a credit card, as it was more like laminated paper.
I took this back to Office Depot and got a bigger model shredder, we'll see what happens from there. I highly prefer my smaller ShredMate to this larger model.

Ugh what a piece of junk
by mjensen99 ,Aug 11 '06
Pros: Price - and that's all Cons: It doesn't do what it is billed to do (it certainly doesn't do it well).
Well - I should write a well worded, intelligently crafted description - bud I really don't have the time.
Suffice it to say that I used this thing well within its rated parameters and I spend most of my time unjamming it. It's just not worth the effort.
Sometimes I wonder "how can they get away with selling such junk?"

Pros: Open waste basket; safety lock for children; price Cons: Weak motor
I put 2 envelopes (thickness to 4 pieces of paper) and it almost jammed. I put 5 pieces of paper and it struggled to get that down. The unit appears to be very heavy and sturdy. I am surprised to see it perform so poorly. I am going to return it.

Fellows P-45C

Pros: Nothing good about this machine. Makes a good foot stool when I'm on the computer. Cons: Everything
Big and heavy you would think this should chop up cardboard. Instead it can barely get through 2 pieces of paper. Glad I received as a gift and did not pay for it. 100% junk and the manufacture should be ashamed to put there name on it.
