FinePix E550 with a 6.3-Megapixel Super CCD HR, I got the newest 9
-Megapixel
Fuji FinePix E900. The E900 features a new 1/1.6-inch 9-Megapixel Super CCD HR ...
Pros: 9-megapixel, 4X optical zoom, good battery life
Cons: overexposed pictures, picture with lines through them, pop-up flash
I went searching for a new digital camera to replace my Canon S30 I had purchased several years ago. My Canon was having some underexposure and shutter lag problems so I was looking for a new camera that would hopefully help with these issues. I was ...
Pros: An extremely flexible photographic tool for a great range of image types. Cons: Limited flash photography, mode dial easily moved, image stabilization is limited at lower ISO speeds.
I've owned my Fujifilm E900 digital camera since February and have taken several hundred shots with it. I've used it in a great variety of applications, from shooting photos of my oil paintings (my profession is fine art) to shots of scenes of both ...
Pros: Picture quality, size and weight (light), battery life, macro feature. Cons: Wide-angle lens distorting edges of pics, menu difficult to manipulate.
I was looking for a digital, having two film cameras (Canon and Nikon, both very good), but starting to feel like a dinosaur. Walking into a Fuji film developing shop some 6 months ago, this camera was there and only 1 was left, others sold out. I was ...
Pros: Great quality at the price, RAW files with PS2 support Cons: Great but bot the best quality, menus can be a little confusing at first
Compared to some Canon's it may not compare; however, for amateurs who are getting serious about photography and want to experiment and play more, this camera is incredible. After searching a few review sites that included sample pictures I purchased it and the quality of images is great -- especially at the correct settings.
Whoever stated in another review that the RAW files aren't supported in CS2 either published the review before support was added or didn't bother checking Adobe's web site to update the CS2 RAW plug-in.
This is simply a great camera to play with as you get more interested in photography.
Great Full Featured Compact Camera by mykecusa ,Oct 10 '06
Pros: Fast Startup & shutter release, Natural Light Mode, RAW Mode. Cons: delay when in low light, a 'work around' is required, plastic tripod mount.
The E900, with the 5th generation Fuji CCD, does a terrific job of taking quality images. The startup and image capture times are very good. The RAW mode is what separates this camera from the pack. Download the free S7raw RAW converter, or use any number of photo editing/managing software, such as, ACDSee 8.0, and very high quality images can be had, as no in-camera processing is done.
For the novice, complete auto mode, plus the typical Special Modes, such as Portrait, Action ... are available.
As the skills of the user increase, the scope of the camera keeps pace, such as EV setting, ISO setting, WB selections ....
One of the really nice features is the Natural Light Mode, where ISO is increased in lieu of use of flash. Very nice.
I've always had trouble shooting in a hockey arena. The lighting conditions conspire against photography.....low light, fast action, horrible color cast, and long distances. I felt the 4X optical zoom might be inadequate, unless I sat in the front row. This is the first camera I can actually recommend the digital zoom function. Because you start with 9 megapixels, using the digital zoom doesn't lower the image quality to any great degree. The anti-blur program takes care of the "long zoom shakes". Exposure and color balance was excellent. This camera starts up quickly, switches modes easily, and the shutter lag is as fast as I've experienced on a compact digital camera. It does what they say it will.
Excellent compact camera with full manual controls by pubwvj ,Dec 02 '05
Pros: Size, price, photo quality, zoom, speed, color, flash Cons: Focus is not as snappy as it was on my Nikon 990
This fall my Nikon 990 digital camera died its final death and I have been hunting for a replacement since. Last Friday I got a FujiFilm FinePix E900 digital camera. I've shot about 1,000 pictures with it and written up a review with some sample photos. In a nutshell I like the camera. It is not perfect, what is, but it is an excellent small pocket camera with full manual and automatic settings and I'm glad I got it. Very fast shutter response - great for capturing children and animals.
You can see my full review with sample photos on my blog at:
Pros: 9 Mp
only 265g
video quality w/sound
Cons: 4x optical zoom
why not silver?
I used the E550 and accepted the challenge to changed it for the E900. As the former it is a great camera! I love simplicity and its all there in this pocket camera, never think in carrying a big and heavy SLR type camera even though it does not have the same capabilities as SLR cameras. Very simple to use for the challenger and has a Manual setting for the PRO.
Pros: Superb design, brilliant idea of 9mp in a compact, superfast start up,great menu options. Cons: Poor images, photo quality very poor from the model I had.
Getting this camera I had hoped was going to be a wonderful advanced move,9mp in a compact, the camera itself felt brilliant and the controls so handy, the start up was the fastest I've known, amazing scope within the menus just like the old days of owning a 35mm Pro sumer SLR.........until.........I took some photos with it, the results were awful, looked like viewing through speckled glasses, what I thought was going to be a fantastic photo to rival my Canon A620 went right out of the window, chromatic fringes and aberrations galore and just a total disappointment all round,I went all through the menus changing everything and nothing made any difference to the pictures, luckily I was able to send it back for a refund.....replacement??? I doubt it after this experience of the E900....maybe I got a Friday camera...but I doubt I would wish to 'chance' another.
