Pros: Any pros of this camera are voided by its cons Cons: Camera is based on a horrible sensor and useless in anything but perfect circumstances
1. DO NOT buy this camera if you want a point and shoot camera. It is a horrible point and shoot camera. 2. DO NOT buy this camera if you want a camera that can shoot in lower or low light situations. 3. DO NOT buy this camera if you ever want to shoot ...
Pros: Great image quality (300 dpi), full manual control, great lens, actually looks like a camera Cons: Unintuitive menu layout, finicky autofocus, finicky exposure, noise noticeable at ISO 400+
The s9100 is for anybody who wants a digital SLR but either can't afford one or, like me, can't do without the convenience of full-on digital, such as LCD previewing and video capabilities. I give it five stars because, though the image quality is not ...
Pros: RAW a plus, feels good in your hand, great lens, USB 2.0, and more... Cons: a little noisy at high ISO speeds(800, 1600), very little else
I had this camera for only a day and I like it already. Great picture quality and easy to use. It replaces a Fuji 4700 which also had very good picture quality for a 4 mp digital camera and better than my Canon A430 of equal mp. (I also shoot film ...
Pros: Big images. Manual focus ring. Manual zoom. Good video. Can shoot raw. Easy manual controls. Cons: No interchangeable lenses. Learning curve for low-light shooting.
Bought a refurbished model of this camera back in February, replacing a cheaper Olympus digital with fewer manual options. My wife and I have been tremendously pleased with it. She keeps the camera on auto, and she's had good luck even in low light with ...
bought this camera.....I'm not a professional but I love the way the photos look. I can't work the camera in it's entirely but I'm learning slowly. If anyone else has bought this camera it would be nice that you share your likes or dislikes. So far, coming from a simple point and shoot camera....I love this one. It's just going to take time for me to learn. Hopefully, by then, I can give a better review. I'll keep you posted.
Pros: Great pictures, easy to use and carry. Cons: None that I can think of.
I have had absolutely NO bad experiences using this camera. I bought it as a "crossover" camera for times when I'd really love to have my DSLR with me and I just don't want to be bothered lugging all the "stuff" around. For traveling, it is sealed so you don't have to worry about dust on the sensor. Between its close-focusing, its superb zoom lens (28 to 300 equivalent), and all its manual controls, it will handle just-about any situation. The images are simply fantastic - especially when working in RAW! Fuji's Super CCD does a wonderful job - lots of detail and incredible color. This is not a camera that I would recommend for a "point-and-shoot" user - it is a bit of an overkill for that. However, for a casual and creative user, you can set it to one of the programmed modes and it is just fine. As compared to a SLR (digital or not), the electronic viewfinder takes some getting used-to. Having a manual-zoom is great - fewer buttons to push and much more control.
Pros: Fantastic photographs, including low-light indoors photography. Equal to 35mm Film cameras! Cons: No program-memory settings in the photography modes.
This camera is definitely a "must have" if your desire is to bridge the gap between a "point and shooter" and a DSLR. This camera gives you the best of both worlds, provided you don't need a camera capable of a zoom range above 300mm (35mm equivalent)or need multiple lenses for speciality photography. It's fixed lens range of 28mm to 300mm should provide enough range to capture nearly every photograph you may desire. The manual zoom lens is incredibly fast and accurate; much more accurate than a motorized zoom lens on most other consumer-style digital cameras. The camera is very fast; DSLR-fast in fact during start-up and single-mode photography. Shutter-lag, which affects the performance of most consumer-style digital cameras is virtually undetectable. This camera has the look, feel and many performance features of the more expensive DSLR's and one really nice feature the DSLR'S do not have...high quality video capabilities, equal to a digital video camera! A real "thumbs-up winner"! If you're looking for one camera that can virtually do it all, this ones for you.
Pros: Great quality- ISO 80 Cons: noise at high iso
Easy to use if you read the manual.
Takes great shots and they have great detail.
I just finished a wedding using the Fuji s9100 and the photos are amazing - day -evening and night shots.
A basic knowledge of photography including film speed- shutter speed and aperture is helpfull but as with all of these things--PRACTICE HELPS.
7000+ photos with it to date and it pays for itself "$399 NEW" every event I use it at.
CF and XD work great
I upgraded my old fuji digital to this one and want to go back. The settings are overwhelming and though I have been taking pictures for years and am not a beginner, many of the pictures were blurred (even with the button for this on) and I basically needed to set the camera on the tripod or on a level surface for a picture that did not have some sort of blurriness. The pictures, when not blurred, are great, but that is a big issue for me. I have had and used the camera now on 4 different occasions and am not sure that I will keep it. I wanted better settings on the fuji, but this camera is just not what I need. If I could have all the settings and reduce the blurred pictures, I would be very happy. The pictures that I have printed were good, sharp color. I had one photo where just the face was blurred and the rest of the picture was beautiful??? Not the camera for me.
Poor Manual, Not User Friendly by nosdod7 ,Nov 18 '07
Pros: Great design and feel.Menu needs to be clearer. Cons: Would be a greater investment if we knew how to work everything easily.
Poorly written manual, not written as everyday understandable English. Something is lost in translation from Japanese to English, needs to be rewritten, more clarification in all the menus, and how to find things. This appears to be written by someone who does not believe in detailed explanations. Whoever writes a clearly explained manual will make a fortune if it is clearly explained. I spent about six hours with another professional photographer trying to understand the manual, he also said you have to spend hours going over every single menu to find what your looking for. When found there is no immediate way to return to what you found. We have set up another day to try and get just some basics accomplished.
In trying to find out how to format compact flash cards, it was difficult to find Formatting to begin with. When we found it we couldn't get back to it again, thus causing another timely search as how we got to it. In some reviews this is mentioned, so I know I'm not the only one who is having difficulty following these poorly expressed directions.
Pros: beautiful photographs easy to use, and understand, Large zoom lens, and good wide angle. Cons: People giving this camera a review without truly reading the manual.
I just bought the Fuji S9000, after reading the manual a few times, I tried a few shots, what a GREAT camera!!!
All I can say is, if anyone rates this poorly they didnt read the manual!
Also this camera gets compared to DSLR's, Its not quit a true DSLR, but, its SO close it isnt funny.
Pictures are brilliant!
Not a camera for the "point and shoot" people. But, if you take alittle time with your photographs, this camera will shine!
Technically the best bridge camera there is! by geek504 ,Jan 17 '08
Pros: Excellent noise control at ISO 800
Full Manual and Zoom ring
Flash PC port/hotshoe Cons: No Image Stabilization
I have experience with the professional Canon 1D and 5D. I wanted a very light and powerful point-and-shoot. Bridge cameras are good performance/price cameras. I looked into the Canon Pro1, Sony R1, and Fuji S9100/9600. While I would love to keep within the Canon family and even use Canon Flash with the Pro1, I have to conclude that the Fuji S9100 is the superior camera. ISO 800 exhibits good noise control. Using the wide end of the lens at f/2.8, one can get excellent low-light shots. Full manual zoom and focus ring gives the user good control and speed (also does not drain the battery). The 28-300mm lens covers all my personal travel needs. Image stabilization would have been useful at the long end. Battery life is not great, but since it uses standard AA batteries, it's convenient. It feels just like my DSLR. For the small CCD sensor it uses, the noise control is the best there is in the small-CCD camera world. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a stepping stone into full DSLR. It passes my low-light wedding/museum test.
Pros: Manual barrel rings for zoom and focus. Handling - the overall feel. Cons: Although shutter lag is very slight, it needs to be anticipated for action shots.
Loaded with features of an SLR, but without the cost or need of changing lenses. Great for both point-and-shoot and full manual controlled shots. Feels nice in the hand with good balance and the controls are fairly well positioned. I've had this camera for 4 months and am still impressed by it.
Pros: No need for extra lenses,a versatile pro-sumer camera Cons: Grainy at high ISO
At first I found it hard to understand (complicated). Then I took it with me to a camera show, went to the Fuji booth and in "five" minutes I understood how to use it and am learning to appreciate it more each time I use it. Best of all, no extra lenses to carry
great camera and excellent pics by newshooter ,Oct 01 '07
Pros: Easy to use, natural colours, very good quality photos. The batteries durability is excellent Cons: cant change the lenses, a bit of noise over ISO 800
I have it since may 2007, and is more than I expected, also have used it in several different conditions and I'm happy owning it. Good for indoors pictures in spite of low light, and excellent for landscapes.
The Fujifilm FinePix S9100 features a 10.7x Fujinon optical zoom lens, nine Megapixel Fujifilm Super CCD sensor and ISO 80-1600 capabilities. The Fuji...More at eBay
