"Zero" Describes It Well

by the_ranger , Feb 05 '04
Pros: Deleted Scenes portion is mostly fun, for a couple hours.
Cons: The rest of the game is more or less pointless.
It's been in development forever, and the hype has been almost unimaginable. Across four different development teams and three years of almost-constant work, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero has been one of the most talked-about games in history. ...

Best Game of What Year?

by xppro , Jun 26 '04
Pros: There are some?
Cons: Not game of the year, sound, graphics.
This one is a little hard to comment on. However, I think it has too many stars for the rating and a few drawbacks that have not been covered. Just to let you know, the box proclaimed it *the best multiplayer game of the year 2003*. First off, you ...

It's Not Geared Toward CS Vets

by happychristman , Apr 07 '04
Pros: High-quality bots, improved graphics, and new (some exclusive) content.
Cons: Vets may not be challenged. The Half-Life mod's much cheaper.
Counter-Strike: Condition Zero isn't intended for veteran CS players, but neither should it repulse them. Granted, the singleplayer is primarily geared toward newbies (and poses a minimal challenge, if any to the experienced), but the multiplayer bots ...

Well, I liked it.
by pacow ,May 19 '05
Pros: A good, fun way to prepare for real counter-strike.
Cons: Not much is added to Counter-Strike.
I've played it through quite a few times, and I had alot of fun with it. I did not have Counter-Strike before I bought condition zero, and playing the single player was actually very good training for the real online mode. CZ comes with Counter-Strike 1.6, the Origional Half-Life modification which you always hear about. There are thousands of players on 1.6, and finding a server is almost never a problem. CZ also comes with condition Zero, which is the same as 1.6 only with different skins and graphics (DIFFERENT, not nessesarily better) and it also has a single player mode which is the same as the multiplayer only with CPU- Controlled players, who are actually quite challenging. The last thing CZ comes with is Condition Zero: Deleted Scenes. This is regular First-Person-Shooter style gameplay, with levels and the like. It's short and challenging, but ultimately fun. It may be cliche'd beyond belief, but it is still fun. If you don't have Half-Life or the retail Counter-Strike, buy this. It is very good preparation for real CS.

Condition Zero Warning
by bay_sugar ,Feb 25 '07
Pros: Like playing cops and robber paintball/cops&Robbers
Cons: See body!
Great Game with anti cheat protection and lots of fun things admin can do. SEE CONS! I got banned for hacking by an admn when I wasn't because I made him mad. I had a loosing score on his team so he changed my name it the game to something like "dumb looser noob". So I changed my name to Right behind admins mom. He got mad reported me for hacking and I can't play anywhere on CZ. There is much admin abuse on here in many forms and the end user has little recourse. If some punk kids doesn't like you or the name you choose for race, creed, religion, fun then can report you as a hacker and your money goes down the tube. It will be a long time before I play another steam game.

CZ Review
by leesamuel ,Jun 10 '05
Pros: Good graphics Rapid gameplay
Cons: Repetitive Can lag- requires good internet/computer
Not bad. Better graphics than CS original, better skins, and improved maps and game physics. the single player is fun, but lags a lot unless you have a really good computer. Multiplayer is a ton of fun, if you're good and you know the maps. If you stink, its no fun at all. you last about four seconds and then die.

Improved AI though little else
by qbrothe ,May 10 '04
Pros: Improved AI, Updated Maps, Deleted Scenes
Cons: Basic Single Player Game, Price, Storage Space Required
After playing countless hours of Counter-Strike against real persons, the AI in Condition-Zero just doesn't match up. Granted it is tremendously improved over the previous AI where hostages would run in place, blocked only by each other. The AI players are also more realistic though they do not perform the most logical acts. For instance, when AI players are being attacked and do nothing to move out of the line of fire while impeding the players movements, that is not realistic and more reminiscent of brand new players.

Excellent multiplayer gameplay
by darkseidx ,Nov 08 '05
Pros: Superb teamgame, requiring coordination, strategy; Runs well on old configurations; Works with slow net connections
Cons: Ancient graphics; Single player gameplay is tedious and boring
As a single player game, this title kind of falls on its face. But when played as a multiplayer team game with steady teams - I mean where the team members don't change every now and then like some online games - this game rocks. Its all about co-ordination and strategy, with plenty of scope for interesting tactics.
It runs just fine with even a 128kbps net connection. Even a dial-up is usually sufficient. On a LAN, of course, this question doesn't even arise.
Hardware requirements are minimal - P2 400MHz with a GeForce 2 suffices.
Once you build up a few 'clan' rivalries, you won't want to play anything else.
