High Hopes

by donc230 donc230 is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Cars & Motorsports, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Jun 07 '07
Pros: Michelin Reputation
Cons: Traction (dry, wet & snow) below expectation. Longivity
Michelin has one of the most sterling reputations in the tire business. From their invention of the radial tire early last century, Michelin has been almost synonymous with quality and performance. Dashed Dreams I will bet that there ...

Overpriced Junk

by arch_8gl , Mar 12 '03
Pros: They come on the car for free?
Cons: Severly overpriced
UPDATE: I just reread this review because somebody rated it yesterday. After reviewing my own review, I'd like to make an additional comment. These tires are used in OEM applications because they do in fact increase a car's fuel economy. The reason ...

Rollin' in the Swedish Pimp

by speedrcr99 , Nov 13 '00
Pros: Incredibly smooth ride, quiet, good gas mileage
Cons: some rear end slipping in wet weather
I purchased four of these tires at Costco for $420.00. I've had them mounted on my 1992 rear wheel drive Volvo 960 (the Swedish Pimp) for about 9 months and 9,000 miles now and I really love them. I had read some reviews of these tires on other sites and...

Tires are supposed to be round

by markvaia , Feb 28 '06
Pros: Acceptable dry weather performance
Cons: Cost, life, wet traction
These tires came as OEM equipment on my 2002 Honda Accord EX. This is generally a family sedan, so handling performance has never been a big issue. They have always been terrible in wet weather. I can spin the tires from any stop with just the slightest ...

Energy MXV4 Plus on a GM Bonneville

by t_fisher , Dec 23 '04
Pros: Look nice.
Cons: VERY bad response, control and handling in wet and snow conditions. VERY expensive.
Hey all, Just bought a 2001 Bonneville in the fall and was pleased to see that it had new tires. The problem now is that it is winter and there is snow and slush everywhere. The car feels like it is being bounced around. Infact, when you are driving ...

Best all around passenger car touring all season tire!

by baystatedog , Jul 27 '03
Pros: Excellent tread life, outstanding all season performance.
Cons: A bit pricey compared to competing brands.
The Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus is an OEM tire used by many top selling models, such as the Honda Acco ...

Confusion

by ksystems , May 06 '03
Pros: Predictable quality
Cons: Expensive, very expensive, and...French
Most of the reviews here appear to be either trolls or less informed persons. Having bought Michelins lots of times and a fair share of Pirelli's, Goodyears, Firestones, BFGoodrich and Bridgestones, the Michelin upgrade replacement tires are very good...

Not a good choice.

by chub878 , Nov 11 '02
Pros: An O.K. tire for about the 1st 5000 miles, after that watch out.
Cons: Horrible overall tread wear, sidewall stiffness is non-existent.
These tires came from the factory on my 2001 GLX Passat. Like I said, they felt good for about 5000 miles. After that, the tread went bad in a hurry. At approx. 30,000 miles, both front tires had noticeable wear on the outer edges. The car feels very...

SCARES ME!

by CashBackNow , Jun 29 '00
Pros: good tire swing ; 400A tread
Cons: they are the worst
This tire has NO SIDEWALL. upon making a left hadn turn in my e320 i was put into a fishtail and almost smacked a pedestrian. very very scary. and the weird thing is, it was drive, and i was about 1/3 throttle. co-incidence? or bad tire. well i looked...

TOURING tires?!?I?!

by 300ex , Oct 20 '01
Pros: soft ride
Cons: wallowy handling, TERRIBLE tread wear,
These tires came standard on my wife's lovely 1999 Mercedes E class. At first they seemed nice. They were quiet, offered a nice soft ride, and they were made by a quality manufacturer.

First impressions can be very misleading. The pillowy...

Great All Around Tire

by goodspike , Feb 27 '03
Pros: Wet traction and wear
Cons: Price
I live in the Seattle area so wet traction is an important factor. These tires really hold to wet surfaces, especially on acceleration. Traction in the snow was a secondary consideration since I also have a 4x4, but the snow traction seems good,...

You may want to pass on these.

by olstad , Jan 23 '03
Pros: treadwear, dry performance, ride
Cons: handling, wet performance, snow
Got 50,000 on the Michelin MXV4 plus tires and have replaced with the Dunlop Sport A2 mostly based on the top rating in catagory with both Consumer Reports & Tire Rack - but mostly because of the huge price difference. The Michelins were ok on dry...

Unsafe at any speed.

by domtech , Dec 27 '02
Pros: Quiet and soft ride on dry roads
Cons: Hydroplaning in even moderate rain at highway speeds. Practically no snow traction.
I have 2 brand new Hyundai Sonata GLS' with these tires on them. The tires provide a soft and quiet ride but are not reassuring in rain and especially snow.
I have been in several situations when the car felt like it was floating under me in...

Not Sure If All Reviewers Are Rating the Same Tire...

by richindc , Aug 26 '05
Pros: Tires are quiet and handle decently and they should be long-lasting.
Cons: High price, may slip a little in wet weather, braking distance longer than expected
The opinions here certainly are diverse, with some people giving these tires the lowest rating and others the highest. It's puzzling that there are so many divergent opinions about the same tire. Judging from these reviews, I think different people are ...
