Don't buy it
by ada1234 ,Mar 17 '08
Pros: Nice little unit when it worked Cons: slow to load, poor customer service.
Purchased MC4002 in Apr 07, stopped working in Aug 07 finally contacted RCA and returned in Dec 07. Replaced in Jan 08 stopped working Mar 08. Have to send it back to be replaced AGAIN at my expense. Pd $80 + returned costs (2x$12) $24 = IPOD who by the way when your ipod breaks down pays for all shipping and you don't have to include your receipt or packaging with it.

Don't waste your time or money!
by tinker84 ,Jun 07 '07
Pros: the ear-buds are fantastic but not $75.00 fantastic Cons: Never worked, RCA obviously doesn't care.
I purchased this item specifically so I could listen to music on our motorcycle trip to Florida this past April. Needless to say after I charged it and followed all directions specifically, when downloaded the firmware, it wont even light up or charge. I have followed the troubleshooting to the T. STILL NO charge, the display wont even light up NOTHING! $75.00 down the drain. Oh, and you can Forget emailing RCA or even calling, I have emailed them 6 times and have yet to hear from them, not to mention called and waited on death hold. The only good thing I got out of the deal was the ear-buds. They are great!

Stopped working within 2 days
by jdtinnc ,Jun 16 '07
Pros: Light, decent capacity (2Gbytes) inexpensive. Cons: Unreliable
I bought this for my son's birthday gift at Walmart. It stopped working within 2 days. (no display, shown as "malfuntioning device" under XP) I returned it for a full refund because I no longer trust RCA products.
It worked ok for those few hours it was used.

No good =*(
by broadvant ,May 12 '08
Pros: Portable Cons: Doesn't charge, tends to not work ever again.
I can see where the others are coming from when they say their players just stop working and can't be charged again. I purchased one for a friend and one for myself. My friend's stopped working almost immediately, and I now have to completely drain my battery and play with the cord in the USB port for a good 45 minutes before it decides to connect. In all, I probably would have been happier flushing $120 down the toilet.

ultimate bang for buck at only 69.99
by mowerracer ,Dec 30 '07
Pros: its ultra sleek design and its low affordable price Cons: the slight difficulty of up-loading media onto it
i just got my 2gb rca opal it is the ultimate bang for the buck at first its a little hard to figure out how to up-load songs but after overcoming that challenge it is amazing with its slim design and ease of use i personally believe its better then the ipod nano and it sounds amazing another plus would be that it comes with great quality ear buds that will fit almost everyone the only bad thing i could say about this player would be that if you lose the weird usb cord that it comes with your screwed, but over all i would give this player a 9 out of 10 and i would recommend it to anyone with some computer knowledge and i believe that it is a steal with its unbeatable price.
