Pros: Well-mannered; versatile; great cargo space; reliable; excellent warranty and service; maneuverable! Cons: Doesn't fulfill need for status (its certainly not a Lexus); need cargo net. The Bottom Line: After three years of service I heartily recommend this for those who need a compact and versatile off-road capable vehicle with room for five and an occasional seven.
In marriage relationships, you learned a lot about someone in three years. We committed to the long term when we bought this vehicle new in 2002. Though the relationship started off highly charged and is still very committed, we look forward to the ...

Pros: gas mileage, comfort, space, aced it's crash tests, damn good warranty, practically everything Cons: wind noise when rear windows are opened The Bottom Line: A great car for your money because:
Saves you a lot of money in the long run
Perfect for the family
Well I was sitting there while my Parents were talking to each other. I was bored. As being the auto enthusiast as I am my parents knew that I was no stranger to cars. Then they came up to me and told me to put on my jacket and we were going to look ...

Pros: value, off road performance, seats 7
Cons: wind noise, below avg gas mileage (for my XL-7) The Bottom Line: I totally recommend this vehicle, I'm confident that if you speak to any XL-7 owner, they will have nothing but good praise on this little best kept secret.
I bought my 2002 XL-7 Limited last November, 2001 with the 4wd. The main reasons I bought this vehicle are:
- Built on ladder box frame for greater strength unlike some car-based cute-utes.
- seats 7 yet the vehicle is not too...

Pros: 3rd row seating, flexibility
Quality of vehicle
Manual transmission
Well equipped
Price, MPG
Cons: Front seats narrow
dated interior
Power
Suspension
Horns The Bottom Line: Unique, inexpensive, quality SUV. Only vehicle in the US with a 3rd row and a manual transmission.
Around April of 2002, my sister in law was looking for a vehicle for herself (and family). Like my wife (her sister) and I, she prefers a manual transmission, which is getting very hard to find here in the US. After some searching and testing of ...

Pros: Plenty of Space, Japanese Quality
Cons: No cargo space with 7 passengers on board The Bottom Line: Suzuki have come up with a nice all-round SUV that feels tough and reliable.
I have been driving my Suzuki XL7 for 6 weeks now, and I must say I am very impressed with it. For the money this is one heck of a Car with rear air conditioning, 16-inch aluminum wheels, and an AM/FM stereo system that includes an in-dash CD player....

Pros: 7 Passenger Capable, Good safety rating, Flexible cargo spac Cons: Good luck trying to fit 7 adults comfortably. Resale value is terrible. The Bottom Line: I love this vehicle. Good all around vehicle. Looks good. It looks both rugged and refined. Great price/value. Good safety ratings.
2/23/2004 (56K miles): I received a recall notice a couple of weeks ago. The recall notice is about the cable that attaches the accelerator pedal to the engine (fuel injector). The cabling has a risk of fraying, and the accelerator pedal can get stuck ...

Pros: Manual available with a 3rd row, decent gas mileage, easy to own Cons: Lackluster engine, 3rd row hard for adults to access The Bottom Line: Definitely a great option for those needing utility but hating automatic "slushboxes" and not ready for a minivan.
We bought our XL-7 new back when we only had two kids. The fact that we have 3 kids now makes our choice seem all the better. We knew we needed a manual (both my wife and I hate automatics) and we knew we wanted 4wd as we live in VT and ski every ...

Pros: Reliability, cargo capacity, versatility, fuel economy, real 4WD with low gearing, styling. Cons: Interior look is generic, factory Bridgestone tires only went 32,000 miles. The Bottom Line: A high quality product with excellent value for the price point. I looked at Jeep Liberty, Isuzu Rodeo, Subaru - none met all the criteria that this one fills.
My 2002 XL-7 has been an extremely reliable SUV now with 55,000 miles. I was attracted to Suzuki with the affordable price ($19,000 drive-out for 3-row seat 4WD with 5-speed manual, which I wanted). Has full power package of door locks, windows, ...

Pros: 7 passenger, 4wd, features, safety rating, styling. Cons: Noisy at high interstate speeds. Wind affected. The Bottom Line: Highly recommended for the budget conscious buyer.
We needed a vehicle to tow a boat and I didn't want a van. I test drove a new XL7, 2004 model, among many other small SUVs, and was impressed with the vehicle. We researched all small SUVs and found that the XL7 offered more features for the dollar. I ...

Pros: Roomy, comfortable and capable for both off-road and daily-driving. Cons: Third row seats only good for small children. Seats don't fold truly flat. The Bottom Line: The XL-7 is one of the best buys available in the SUV market. It is the first Suzuki that goes beyond being "good" to truly being "fine." Highly recommended!
In the beginning was the Samurai, a small, underpowered but rough and ready off-roader. Then came the Sidekick which added a touch of creature comfort and some excellent design ideas but lost a ton of character. (I owned one of each of these). The Vitara...

Pros: Price, Looks Cons: Space, Power The Bottom Line: If you plan on using the rear seat EVER, get the Explorer or Mountaineer
I've owned my XL-7 (Touring Edition) for 8 months now and I wished I'd spent the extra dollars for a real mid-sized 4WD vehicle. Although the leg room for the driver is excellent, that's where the comfort ends. The narrow frame really cramps me in....

Pros: Rugged design, abundant creature comforts, attention to detail, and even a well-written user's manual! Cons: Quick to find faults, I simply cannot identify any here. The Bottom Line: This car is absolutely first rate. Perhaps I will eventually find a flaw, but it seems doubtful.
I am sure there may be better SUV/autos out there, but I certainly haven't found them. The more I drive my Suzuki 2002 XL-7, the more I love it. Here are a few of the characteristics I've noticed:
- Comfortable seating
- Thoughtful and...

Pros: Reliable, low-maintenance, good safety rating. Cons: Tough on tires. Not many dealerships around for maintenance, parts, etc. The Bottom Line: The Suzuki XL-7 is an affordable, dependable, safe, mid-sized SUV that can accommodate a family of four quite comfortably.
I have two young children, close family that lives out-of-state, and in-laws with a beach house 2 hours away. We needed a car that could accommodate not only the four of us comfortably, but also our luggage, strollers, booster seats, cars seats, pack 'n ...

Pros: Reliable, comfortable, handles well. Great in the snow. Low Maintenance. Cons: A little low on power, gas mileage not as good as hoped but not horrible. The Bottom Line: A great buy, a lot of value for your money.
I like things pretty basic, reliable, and low maintenance. This Suzuki has met all my expectations and then some. I had no clue about Suzuki until I started working for a multi-line dealership that carried them. I kept busy working on the other car ...

Pros: Good AC, Decent Cargo Area Cons: Defroster, Uncomfortable Seats, Useless 3rd Row Seat, Tailgate, Leg Room, Poor Snow Handling The Bottom Line: It's a decent SUV, but for the price there are better options out there, but definitely give it a look!
One of the vehicles we used at the TV station I worked at, on a daily basis was the Suzuki XL7. If I could say one thing about this SUV, is that, its generic. Its not going to win any points for its styling, interior or exterior. You can rea ...
