Pros: Incredibly beautiful lake, reasonably-priced cabins, family atmosphere. Cons: Cabins must be reserved FAR in advance!
My family just spent an April weekend at Devil's Fork State Park, and we found it to be a near-perfect getaway. We reserved a two-bedroom cabin -- ooops, when they're this nice, the parks service calls them villas -- right on the lake, and it was an ...
Pros: Ultra clean lake, modern park, very relaxing place. Cons: Only negatives bugs & when lake is low. Park is remote, so bring own food.

Pros: BEAUTIFUL, and excellect for the Family Cons: A little hard to get too

Magic Mountain Waterfall Paradise by oconeebell ,Jun 11 '07
Pros: Unspoiled mountain lake with fantastic waterfalls and magnificent vistas. Cons: Limited accommodations at park villas. Small number of alternate lake vacation rental properties available.
Devils Fork at Lake Jocassee SC is one of those rare places at the end of the road we often imagine but seldom ever experience. Located on the eastern slope of the extreme Southern Appalachians one is hard pressed to believe they are in the deep South. The Park is a focal point as the gateway to the Jocassee Gorges Conservation Area which bounds between North and South Carolina. The lake is amazingly deep at up to 350 feet and can only truly be appreciated by boat as the waterfalls and rivers cascade from the distant shore across from Devils Fork. Guided waterfalls tours are available as well as fresh water fishing charters departing from the boat ramp at the Park. Accommodations can be found at both the Park and some nearby vacation rentals. The lake's 75 mile shoreline is almost completely protected from development and is unique unto itself in the region. Reservations are a must as the region is very rural and vacancies in season are scarce. All in all a Lake Jocassee Vacation Getaway will truly lighten ones soul.
