Learning remote with JP1 compatibility

by tom0826 , Dec 17 '03
Pros: Standard code, JP1, and learning capabilities all in one remote. LCD display with clock.
Cons: Seems a bit large. Somewhat pricey.
I've purchased 3 One For All remote controls in the past, and have been generally satisfied with the results. This is the first learning remote I've purchased, but I specifically wanted JP1 compatibility which only a handfull of remotes are. For ...

Finally found the remote that does ALL for me

by coffey93 , Apr 04 '04
Pros: RF capable, Learning, backlit, upgradeable
Cons: small learning capacity
Kudos to One for All! I'm revising my review. I just purchased another one of these, and noticed that they fixed the problem I previously stated as one of the cons - the cursor buttons used to be hard to press. model URC9910B01 changed the button ...

Nice remote but cursor key design is faulty

by beakmyn , Jan 02 '04
Pros: upgradeable, versatile button programming, Multiple modes, Learning keys, macro keys, home theater mode
Cons: cursor key design requires extreme pressure to function, Keys aren't tactile
This remote is very nice the RF link only works with the included base station. Not bad as it allows you to run devices hidden behind cabinet doors. You can reprogram almost any button to do what you want if the default key map doesn't fit your needs. ...

No More Remote Juggling!

by waldodio , Jan 04 '05
Pros: Really allows you to get down to only one remote.
Cons: Programming a little tricky. Customer service good, but hard to reach.
I don't use the IR feature of this remote, so I can't comment on that, but I am now able to control all of my devices in my entertainment room with this one remote! Oh happy day! The learning feature is what allowed that to occur. It's only with that ...

The RF receiver is garbage
by edbenckert ,Feb 21 '04
Pros: Ergonomic, very versatile
Cons: The RF unit is near useless
I don't have a lot to say about this remote except for the one feature I bought it for, it's built in RF transmitter and receiver. The RF receiver, instead of listening for signals from the remote and translating them to IR, listens to anything it can find on it's frequency and blasts it as IR. The problem? It's blasting IR ALL THE TIME. It's blasting so much that it blinds my Tivo, enough so that my normal remote doesnt work with it. The signal would get worse the closer the receiver got to the Tivo (it must make RF signals) but regardless, using a nightshot camera, you could see IR coming out of the transmitter constantly. It may not be an issue if you use the receiver to send the IR, as it seemed the garbage signals it got produced weak IR, but when you use the separate IR transmitter that can be set in front of the device, it's so close, any IR coming out blinds the device.

The remote itself seems cool, but it's useless to me.
